Hardball: Discussing Glen Beck's paranoia that the left will have to shoot him in the forehead.

Does Beck have any possibility of multiple personalities? That would not understand his shooting statement?

I might have included left in there accidentally.

2. My Republican hubby says Beck is a comedian. I have never, ever heard this. Does anyone know if he
has any type of comedy background.

4. Then why does no one laugh when he says he wants people dead?
I fail to see the humor.

A comedian usually makes one laugh, or at least be bemused.

Beck says things that make sane people gasp in horror.

6. Totally agree. If he is a comedian, why is he on a "serious" news network like Fox or CNN? He is
a howling, dangerous net-case who I predict will self-explode in the near future. Unfortunately, he will just be replaced by another who is just as crazy - if not more so. Republicans really, really gravitate toward people who seem to have mental or emotional problems.

7. I've heard he did some kind of stand-up tour
It's where he first demonstrated his ability to cry on cue, as put to good effect in his "I fear for its future" speech.

8. he pioneered the "morning zoo" talk radio format. but he was a drunk\addict and
went down in flames eventually.

he remade himself as a political talker, and made himself filthy rich off it.

9. Ann Coulter used to make that claim as well when she went too
far. Here's the deal, you have seen comedians. They make people laugh. Beck does not. They do concerts, or clubs, Beck does not. They have material ready at all times. They have material, which he does not.
Does he tell jokes on Leno, show up at the Improv? When he shows up on the View, does he behave like a comedian meeting other comedians? That is the real professional test right there. A comic is always thrilled to be in a place where the funny can be easily cultivated, Joy and Whoopi are both sharp as hell and can hear a set up and when actual comedians are on the show, they enjoy themselves.
If hubby wanted to, he could easily look up other comics who did play with characters that never cracked, and note the many various ways that such performers point the joke. A simple example would be the Gracie Allen or Tommy Smothers type 'simpleton' routine. It is rude to laugh at stupid people, but somehow, they were able to 'tip the hat' and you knew it was funny time, not laugh at an idiot time. You knew they were telling a joke that used themselves as the punchline. No one thought Gracie was a scatterbrain, they were not wondering about that.
A good example for this case would be Brother Theodore. Here is a link to start you out:

5. Shooting him in the head would not damage any vital organs.
He would survive with no impairment of function or intelligence.

Only pretreatment and bleach can remove a shit stain.
