1. And he looks like Eddie Munster and a douche bag.
He creeped me out last night. Let's face it...most Repubs are creepy and come off horrible on tv in comparison to President Obama.

2. Yes- he did have a hard act to follow
Our POTUS has the demeanor, looks and oratory skills that the republicans can't match.

3. If you are talking about the best that Republicans have? Yes!
If you are talking about the best that Janesville, Wisconsin has. No!

Paul Ryan and Russ Feingold both graduated from Craig High School in Janesville. Russ I believe in 1971 while Paul around 1988.

6. So his people leaked
But, he would have had a similar problem. His style is that of a bully, with the power of office behind him, and it would have contrasted poorly with Obama's grace. Where the SOTU response can be a big attention getter for someone up and coming, it can also backfire - as it did for Jindal. (NJ gov Whitman became a star because of her response back in the Clinton years, before she self destructed.)

7. Yet he is pretty popular in a blue state.
Just saying that Ryan doesn't seem to have been 1st choice.

9. As a NJ resident, his popularity is declining
and he was recently polled as tied at 42% each with Corey Boker, Newark's mayor. In fact, people looking at the details saw that Boker would likely win as there were far more unsure among the Democrats, reflecting that Bocker is not that well known.

Earlier, when polled against Obama in NJ (if he ran for President, he lost by 17 points. He oddly may face the same dilemma Romney had in 2006 - had he run for re-election he likely would have lost. Therefore he quit and ran for President in 2008.

In my very republican county, Christie is beginning to lose support among my Republican neighbors.

10. Yes, and he is very dangerous
He can speak mostly gaffe free, is able to form complete sentences and gives off a reasonable moderate vibe while supporting the most extreme far-right policies there are. The beltway loves him and considers him a real intellectual policy wonk with the courage to say what no one else will say. This dude is scary, like Marco Rubio he is able to walk the line between establishment and tea party really well and the press love him. This guy is like something out of 1984.
