Ouch. That's going to hurt....
Elizabeth Warren hires some bankers

A funny thing happened this morning. Normally, when the Obama administration hires someone who happens to hail from Wall Street, my Twitter stream erupts with snarky comments about how the latest move is yet one more piece of evidence that the banksters own the White House. Case in point: The decision to appoint J.P. Morgan executive William Daley as White House Chief of Staff.

But so far as I can tell, the Thursday announcement by Elizabeth Warren that she is appointing two former Wall Street bankers and a former Freddie Mac official to top positions at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau hasn't elicited a single peep.

More about "progressives" hypocrisy (and I'm not talking about Warren):

5. All the outrage over the hiring of industry insiders is misguided nonsense.
Edited on Fri Feb-18-11 01:13 PM by phleshdef
Of course people who have knowledge of an industry are the people you look to hire for positions that are related to regulating that industry. The chances are VERY HIGH that a good number of the people who have enough knowledge to be qualified in the first place are people that worked in some position or another for one of the large players in said industry.

Simply having worked for a corporation, in a high or mid-high position is not in an of itself an evil thing to have done. There is nothing wrong with being a person thats worked in the banking industry. It does not make you a criminal or a person with an ethical issue.

Of course we need to prevent conflicts of interest. But we also have to recognize that you don't hire someone without a high working knowledge of environmental issues to work for the EPA. And you don't hire someone without a high working knowledge of financial issues to work for consumer financial protection. In order to have a high working knowledge, you most likely had to have spent time actually working in the relevant area thats being regulated.

7. There's a giant double standard.
'Progressives' trust Elizabeth Warren (for now). They have never and will never trust Obama and Geithner.

8. I note that you do not even mention the names of these people.
The notion you have that all 'bankers' are the same is absurd. The criticisms of Obama's appointments have been about the individuals, not about their professions. A person being in a profession does not make them bad or good, what they do in that profession does that. The criticisms you have seen about Obama appointments have been specific to the people appointed. You may have missed that in your rush to bait a hook.
It is offensive to equate one person to another while not even mentioning their names. All you ever post is flame bait, this is such a perfect example, because you, again, do not even name the people you are touting as being so much like Daley.
