Insider for RNC: Walker may be hurting GOP chances in 2012
Edited on Mon Feb-21-11 08:30 PM by zulchzulu
I have a friend (who thinks Walker is a "Godsquader") who now feels that Scott Walker may indeed be HURTING the Republican Party's chances in 2012 because he now has jumped the shark on thinking unions need to help out with cuts on their benefits and such. Even fucking Bill O'Reilly is saying that it's about union busting and isn't exactly smiling about it.

Walker is now seen optically within the RNC Batcave as overstepping with his tactics on ignoring how the Wisconsin unions were willing to negotiate on cuts, but not on just giving up on collective bargaining. "There is no better way to put a fire under the Democrats' base ass than to try to defang unions."

I like my friend because he's (1) a moderate and (2) he knows his political shit with a boatload of cred.

From his view that he shared with me over a couple cold drinks, if Walker "succeeds" by chopping away at union rights, Wisconsin is lost to the Republicans in 2012. He is also wary of how Walker has been acting in interviews, even on FOX!!! He even admitted that Walker may be Palin on Steroids... and the RNC HATES PALIN!

The RNC may be giving College Dropout Scottie a little phone call. Very fucking soon.

4. Interesting.
This is extremism. May be offputting to some. It depends on who winds up winning the perception wars, and who puts out the most effective message. Who captures the imagination? Who's painted as the sympathetic side (all those Five Million Hard-Working Taxpayers - many of whom are union members, btw) versus who's portrayed as the selfish, greedy, uncooperative pirate? And the bad guys have a much better message machine, which is what worries me.

5. Perception wars? Most effective message?
Busting unions openly and on this scale is far beyond the more or less low key, clandestine methods used successfully in the past. Now the millions of union members can actually SEE what is coming right at their throats. Nothing is going to motivate the labor movement more than a blatant attempt to rip their power out of their hands.

Methinks Walker has really jumped the shark on this one, and he isn't even in year 2.

9. And you believe this, why? He's a Republican, he'd vote for
Walker. He's selling you some stank to make nice. All Republicans lie all the time. It is what they do. If you don't know that, you don't know jack.

10. Walker is going to make an announcement tomorrow AM and maybe
he'll announce the unions won and just accept their financial aid and put and end to this whole mess. Then again...maybe he won't and he'll really hurt his own party as the OP said.

15. If Walker succeeds he will be recalled in early 2012. This will solidify and invigorate the
Democratic base as well as bring in many independents and moderate Republicans. And if Walker fails the result will be much the same. This will be seen by historians as a major Republican blunder.
