Kay Bailey Hutchinson was saying some weird stuff we should be paying attention to

Last night after the drug re-importation bills were shot down, she stood up to introduce some amendement to delay implementing some taxes that were supposed to be part of healthcare reform because , as she pointed out, the reforms did not take place until 2013 and it was very possible that a new Congress and a new President would be making changes to any healthcare that was passed.

The incredibly crappy job that the Dems and our President have done on healthcare have put us in great peril of sending Dems into the hinterlands for probably the next 2 elections.

Take a moment to marvel how a President and Congress swept into office with a vast and sweeping mandate for change from the scum-sucking Republican administration have managed to squander all that goodwill and optimism in LESS THAN ONE YEAR!!!?????

All they had to do was pass a GOOD healthcare bill with real reform that would have benefitted the majority of Americans quickly and they could have cemented their legacy and our future for decades.

THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT IN THEM.

Corruption, cynicism and self-service won out over hope, change, optimism and the American people.

Cowardice.

So I guess she is admitting something will go through and is hoping it is bad so people will turn to Republicans who of course will make it so much better. Glad to see you are so supportive of that crap.

for generations. And yet here we have KBH confident enough to predict that HCR will be such crap that the backlash from it will make voters forget all about W and his band of crappy co-horts, and return them to office to punish Obama and the Dems.

It is very hard to defend the indefensible. That is what has occurred with a bad healthcare bill. It's not good enough to help enough people in a timely fashion to counter that impression. As she pointed out, what people will see is their taxes going up before they see any real benefits. Actually, if she was a smart Republican, she would have left them in, since she was actually removing a weapon from the Republican arsenal in the future. Aside from that, I don't know whether her amendment passed ot not - I just thought her subtext of future Republican victories, which NO ONE would have talked about just a short time ago, was interesting. I think that she is correct to predict a backlash.

Because I am pointing out what she said, doesn't mean that I support her or Republicans. But you keep with your ostrich attitude and berate someone else who is trying to keep some eyes on what's going on.

The last administration got to office under questionable circumstances. Yet they behaved as though they had a huge mandate. And many Democrats of course wanted to play nice and went along on a lot of things.

Obama and many Democrats get elected with a real mandate this time. Voters sent the message they had had enough of the last corrupt administration. So this was a great opportunity. So what does Obama and many Democrats do? Cartwheels, falling all over each other to play nice with Republicans. Govern as though THEY had been elected under questionable circumstances and had to prove themselves.

I'll tell you, I am really fed up with all of this.

Is being said to gain her more wacko wingnut cred for her 2010 primary challenge against Rick Perry. For the last year or so, the speculation was that she would resign her Senate seat to campaign full-time. But about a month ago she changed her mind and announced she was keeping her seat for the time being to fight against HCR.
