CNN: Kucinich critique turns into push for funds
(CNN)- Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich is transforming his critique of President Obama's actions in Libya into a fundraising plea, asking supporters to decide whether they like President Obama or the Constitution more.

After calling the president's decision to act in Libya an "impeachable offense," Kucinich Monday posted a letter on his website asking supporters for help in "putting together a broad fundraising structure to make sure that I'll have the resources to continue to be a voice in the Unites States Congress."

...snip...

"We are bombing Libya right now. Congress did not approve this action, according to the Constitution. Such an action lacks legality in the United States and the President should have to answer to that," he continued.

Kucinich also marked the 8th anniversary of the attack on Iraq with a reminder that he was against the Iraq war from the start. Stating that he "never failed to stand up" when advocating for the "need to more our economy forward" or "internationally standing up for peace," Kucinich asked potential donors to shore up his re-election efforts for 2012.

6. Apparently he owes the government $52,000
http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/archives/2011/02/fec-kucinichs-2.php

The olive-pit sandwich lawsuit didn't take care of it, so his next step was to malign President Obama in the hopes of getting bipartisan donations.

Now tell me how his sudden media blitz isn't as cynical as it gets? This type of thing is why I've lost respect for him.

8. The tea baggers are on it...I'm sure!
They'll be turning in theIR empties to get some change to Kucinich.

Maybe his wife made him sign a pre-nup. Not money but that he'd have to be president by 2012....OR ELSE!!!

11. So?
I got that email yesterday. It's geared toward progressives who would like to keep Kucinich in a seat. I love Dennis and for the record that quote is AGAIN out of context or at least missing some key words that went with it. Shame on you!

"And I'm raising the question as to whether or not it's an impeachable offense. It would appear on its face to be an impeachable offense," Kucinich said. "Now, it doesn't necessarily follow that simply because a president has committed an impeachable offense, that the process should start to impeach and remove him. That's a whole separate question. But we have to clearly understand what this Constitution is about."

18. Surprised this is considered newsworthy.
Let's see, an elected official highlights a stance they took or something they said recently that they believe will appeal to their base in the hopes of raising money for reelection?

Newsflash: unless and until we have publicly-financed elections, pols will raise money to run for office and retain their seats. That's how it's done.

I'm loving how so many of the folks on here who seem more ready than most to defend "politics-as-usual" in seemingly the vast majority of cases suddenly get all huffy when one of their fave bogeymen, Dennis Kucinich, engages in a little of it. Hilarious.
