CBS News Poll: Obama's disaster management gets solid marks
The U.S. and other countries began cruise missile and air strikes in Libya on Saturday -- an effort to protect civilians from attacks by the country's long-time ruler Muammar Qaddafi.

A CBS News survey shows that exactly half of Americans approve of how President Obama is handling the situation in Libya, and just 29 percent disapprove. Twenty-one percent said they did not have an opinion.

President Obama receives more support from Republicans on this issue than he has on domestic issues such as the economy and the deficit. Forty-three percent of Republicans say they approve of how the President is handling the crisis in Libya, and 41 percent disapprove. A majority 66 percent of Mr. Obama's Democratic voters said they approved, along with 43 percent of independents.

On another pressing international issue - the U.S. response to the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis in Japan - President Obama receives a much higher approval rating. More than seven in 10 Americans (73 percent) say they approve of the President's handling of the U.S. response to the triple disaster, and just 14 percent expressed disapproval.

3. It means that this thread was 'underwater' when I recommended it
That is, I recced it and saw that the number of recs was still at (or below) zero. Some people can't stand to see that a large majority of people approve of President Obama's handling of things. Glad to see the unreccers outnumbered on an ostensibly Democratic board.

5. Every time I see one of these polls about Libya, I cant help but remember...
"That’s what I’m opposed to. ... A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics."

(which is not a slight to the OP BTW)

6. Well we can't have that because the caterwauling has already begun.
Something about being the worst president evah which is no small feat what with the prior president's 'illustrious' record and all.

It certainly bodes well for 2012. The campaign season is about to start, too.

Thanks, dennis.

11. "President Obama receives more support from Republicans on this issue"
Quoted right from the article. not surprised those who still stand behind this horrible president (3 wars, no universal health care, cover-up of the Bush era war crimes, etc) are in favor of this too. if Obama killed a kitten i'm sure yall would be like: "that kitten had it coming!" pfft.

and only 50% approve. wow. such stunning numbers. i think i'm in love.. no wait, i think i'm gonna puke.

so lets see.. war is GOOD when a Dem does it, bad when a republican does it? is that it? party over principle is that what's going on here?

WAR IS A RACKET - by General Smedley Butler. Read it. The end.

15. Oh, 'cmon with the FACTS already!!
You surely know facts are not welcome here anymore....!!It is much more convenient to crop sentences if it fits a particular agenda than to actually try to twist the facts to make them agree with our own opinions. Sheeesh!
