Asleep on the Job: What Was Vice President Joe Biden Doing During Obama's Debt Speech?
Vice President Biden chose an inopportune time for either a nap or some deep reflection today.

As President Obama weighed in on one of the most important issues of the day, outlining his plan to deal with deficit reduction and attack the national debt, at least one audience member did not appear to be fully engaged.

Biden, at one point, could be seen apparently nodding off -- or at least deep in thought. The bug was catching, too. The woman in glasses directly behind Biden appears to close her eyes too.

1. I wonder how many dozen times the President had run the speech by him already. nt

2. Joe's no spring chicken. These guys amaze me. They're up til all hours at night,
and they're up at stupid o'clock in the a.m. I'd be surprised if they both didn't catch a nap here & there. These photos never make for good PR, but it's certainly understandable.

3. Plenty of troll comments too
I wonder what trolling pays? Maybe that's the GOP jobs creation program. It would flop of course if they won the next election.

6. I once saw after "after lunch" meeting at work with 3 or 4 middle aged guys
and they were all asleep!

Oh to have had a camera.

5. Let's not post tabloid media trash.
Nope he wasn't sleeping. If he was, his head would be sliding down & he wouldn't be so alert when he opened his eyes. He just closed it while Obama spoke, but he was not napping.

7. Dude's 66, nearly 67 years old.
His constitutional obligation is to have a pulse. He's the Alben Barkley to Obama's Truman.

He still rules.

I think many of us - at least those over about 40, who are maybe a bit sleep deprived, sometimes fall asleep when sitting still at a meeting or speech. (I will admit that years ago during a time when I was working and had 3 kids, I saw one of the Star Wars films three times with them - and still did not see the entire film! I did get a nice nap each time.)
