the most devastating line in Obama's Trump roast
Edited on Sun May-01-11 02:41 PM by Enrique
and it sounded like it wasn't even meant to be...

http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2011/05/obama_zings_trump_at_white_hou.html

But all kidding aside, obviously, we all know about your credentials and breadth of experience. (Laughter.)

but actually the intended part of that was pretty ruthless, the way he elaborates on Trump's clown background in such detail. To have the President of the United States mock you for how trivial you are, especially after your attacks on Obama's own intelligence? That's gotta hurt:

But all kidding aside, obviously, we all know about your credentials and breadth of experience. (Laughter.) For example -- no, seriously, just recently, in an episode of Celebrity Apprentice -- (laughter) -- at the steakhouse, the men's cooking team cooking did not impress the judges from Omaha Steaks. And there was a lot of blame to go around. But you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership. And so ultimately, you didn't blame Lil' Jon or Meatloaf. (Laughter.) You fired Gary Busey. (Laughter.) And these are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night. (Laughter and applause.) Well handled, sir. (Laughter.) Well handled.

1. yeah, that was funny
Seth made it explicit in his speech: "When I heard you were running for president I was surprised that you were running as a republican ... I just figured you were running as a joke."

Trump--not amused.

6. he trashed Meyers's "delivery" on Fox this morning
There's a clip in the political videos forum: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x579691

I didn't watch the whole thing, but when they ask him his reaction to being roasted by Obama, he said something along the lines of "I thought the delivery was good -- Seth Meyers's delivery was not good. He stutters. He has a real problem."

Yeah, I'm sure it was his delivery you didn't like. Actually, his delivery killed ... (your presidential ambitions :eyes:)

I felt badly for anyone sitting close to him, as I'm sure they thought their lives were in danger.

15. And I pictured them planning
what they would tell their friends and associates after the dinner. Meanwhile, it looked like Trump was consciously trying to take up as much space at the table as he could - he may be ridiculous, but he is rather LARGE.

Trump was a Dem. until just recently. The "running as a joke" was what everyone must've been thinking. It was GREAT that he had to sit there and take it.

14. Do you really think trump will let this go?
I see him fuming and stewing about this, getting himself all worked up. For an egomaniac, those were some pretty hard hits - I think he will try to get even somehow. Have no idea how he would do that, but I don't see him as the type to let this go. :scared:

19. Oh, I don't think he will let it go
Don't think he is capable of it. Unfortunately for him, he will just make a bigger fool of himself when he attempts to retaliate. Eventually he'll be saying, "Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me....." but there will be no one there.

If they ever make a movie about Trump, I wonder who would play him. Oliver Stone definitely should direct it.

37. Karl Rove is at odds with the Tea Party
They represent 2 distinct groups of a formerly unified Republican party. Notice Rove and T-Party fringies are always throwing barbs at each other? Rove is out of the loop for 2012, much to his annoyance. He thinks the T-Party is dumb as hell but the irony is that he helped to create them.

38. I disagree. First of all Karl and the BCF are never "out of the loop".
Edited on Mon May-02-11 09:09 AM by rhett o rick
Be suspicious, things arent what they appear. Of course Karl is on the outs with the wack-a-doodles currently running the republican party. He is setting them up for a huge fall.

Most decent Republicans are voting for Obama in 2012 because he went right to pick up their votes and the Republicans got nothin. But one day, doesnt look like it will be 2012 (but there is still time) Karl, with the unlimited financial backing of Citzens United will come back with guns blazing. No holds barred he will discredit/destroy the Democratic candidate and the TeaParty, and then bring out Jeb Bush on a white horse. Jeb will be the savior of the good-ole-boy, compassionate conservative Republican Party. Those on right of center will be flocking to go back to the good old days of conservative rule like Reagan.

If that will take audacity, that's one thing Karl has plenty of.

It's difficult to recover any dignity when everyone is in on the joke that you've become.
