Palin, Gingrich, Trump, and Bachmann are all finished.
................

.........................

1. Very few people will profess that President Obama is not an American citizen after today. The percentage of those who believe that particular myth will fall.

2. President Obama's popularity will skyrocket for a short period, and probably settle back down in the low 60s. If unemployment continues to fall, he will probably stay there through the election.

3. The Republican Party is finished for the short term. It may well split. They have spent the last 3 years calling Obama every vile name in the book, and virtually no one is going to want to hear that now, at least in the short term. They have boxed themselves in by using such extremist language about the President that they cannot now climb back down from it in order to soak up some goodwill.

4. Palin, Gingrich, Trump, and Bachmann are all finished.

.............

1. Makes me chuckle...remembering...
One of Seth Meyers best lines about the GOP line up: They sound more like contestants for "Dancing with the Stars" than presidential candidates.

How many political people have been on DWTS? I remember Tucker Carlson and Tom Delay...anyone else?

2. Yep, but...
Never underestimate the short-term memory of the American public.

George HW Bush's approval rating was 91% following the launch of Desert Storm in 1991 and he lost. They still need to keep their eyes on the ball.

3. Really? With today's "liberally-biased media"???
Like George W. Bush's press conference where he pretty much blew off the importance of ObL/UbL (only a few months after declaring "Dead or Alive") ...

all their talk about President Obama being "soft" on O/UbL will be as easily found as the love child of Jimmy Hoffa and Amelia Earhardt ...

9. Glad you brought that Bush press conference up,
if I had to rely only on the media this morning, it would seem that the events of this weekend were the direct result of Bush and his megaphone.

4. Don't be too sure of that.
In February of 1991, GHWB was pretty damned popular after Desert Storm. A lot of top Democrats decided against running in 1992 because he was so popular.

The war euphoria only lasted a few months, then economic reality set in. If the economy doesn't improve, it could still give Republicans an in.

If gas prices stop climbing and the stock market keeps going up, he should win easily.

5. Bachmann (from CNN):
Possible 2012 GOP presidential candidate U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota:

"Tonight's news does not bring back the lives of the thousands of innocent people who were killed that day by Osama bin Laden's horrific plan, and it does not end the threat posed by terrorists, but it is my hope that this is the beginning of the end of Sharia-compliant terrorism."

Idiot.

6. Is she suggesting that we should stop convicting and jailing murderers.
Never once did it bring anyone back to life. Clearly she's against the death penalty...than never brought anyone back either.

Do these people ever think before they talk???

10. Think?
Are they capable of such an action?

Bachman's comment is about as sensible as Palin's. It's a fucking ad lib. Just some words strung together. Utter complete nonsense.

11. Palin did not mention
herself even once!

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin: "Thank you, American men and women in uniform. You are America's finest and we are all so proud. Thank you for fighting against terrorism."

15. Where did I hear people vote pocketbook issues?
If that is true, the direction of economy is paramount
in election 2012. May be it is different this time.

17. yes, they do and that's why Obama still wins..
because most voters blame Bush and Republicans for the economic mess we are in.. and they would be absolutely right.
