I don't think anything "guarantees" Pres. Obama's re-election......

and yeah...I'll say why, if you don't know; cause he's President while Black,
so whatever list of accomplishments he has won't matter,
even if during his last remaining 1.6 years in office,
the wars in Iraq and Afghanistans are ended.

Instead folks will zero in on what he hasn't accomplished....


So in order for Barack Obama to get re-elected, he will have to:
Get unemployment down to 4% done by pulling Union jobs out of his ass,
make sure everyone's mortgage has been paid,
bring Bush to justice,
brokers peace between Israel and the Palistinians,
end all wars,
make weed legal,
get rid of DOMA notwithstanding a Republican majority House,
cures cancer and AIDS,
provide us with national single payer health care,
prevent any further natural disasters,
reduce gas prices to not more than $3.00 per gallon,
have the Dow at 13,000,
bring some major sports event to America,
kiss the media's ass every single day of his remaining term....
and beg on his knees for donations and folks to work for him
for the 2012 election.

Now, if he does all of those things, than he's a shoe-in!
But of course, if someone finds his grades (and there is a B on there)
and the MSM decides to discuss Trump generated rumors that Bill Ayers took his SATs for him,
then he's out no matter what else he's done.

Rest assured however, that if Pres. Obama is found out to be an acoholic,
and it is discovered that Michelle was in a fatal auto accident
in where she was driving and killed someone,
and Obama allows, through incompetence, the largest attack on American soil,
but he gets a bullhorn and screams USA, USA, USA in it while standing at
the crime site, well than he's in like Flint,
notwithstanding his laundry list of "to do"s...of course.

To illustrate my point, Intrade has Barack Obama 62.4% chance of winning re-election,
down 1.9% from the closing prior to Bin Laden's death announcement.

I think Obama will be reelected and this Bin Laden business will certainly help, but it's far from a given.

in 1992. It will mean more in a year from now if the economy is doing better and unemployment has dropped. But there is no denying that getting bin Laden will not hurt.

You are absolutely wrong about the motives and motivations of Obama critics from the Left. It's not from unrealistic expectations, it's just that we want to "hold his feet to the fire" as he stated that we should. I feel the "other side" of DU is enabling dishonest corporate behavior by saying every basic Democratic belief that he compromises on is OK and justified. I was so proud of his election, and now so disappointed on the lack of honesty and leadership that he has shown since taking office. This duplicity will really hurt turnout in 2012, IMO.

But this is beside the point. Please let DU have one day of unity. We really could use a cease-fire for a day, don't you think?

and clearly understand the alternative and how our politics work.
I also understand how the unreasonable never have anything to say positive,
and are only here to accentuate the negative about this President.
Those of us who understand clearly how laws are made, and how our media works,
are much more supportive than those who don't give a shit and only want what they want,
and that is the only measure they use in determine this particular President's performance.

I will say that I believe that you can and should believe whatever you feel like it....
and with that, so should I.

I have been accused of telling others to STFU for a long time now,

lost because they were too over confident. This is a good break for us but not a total win. We are all going to be needed to help in this fight and President Obama will need to work on gas and food prices and jobs.

I think he could accomplish a lot more if we started showing him more support,
rather than so many throwing rocks. I think if Americans see a strong wind
of support behind Barack Obama from this point on, this will help us win back the House,
increase our senate majority, and relect President Obama.

I keep thinking that we all have a part to play and a job to do,
and that our job isn't solely "holding the Prez feet to the fire" for the entire 4 years...
and yet, that's what beend one for 2.4 years to date.....and thus far, those efforts may
have helped the President, but without a better balance of support from activists, even
when he does things that are good and what was demanded, it seems like our enemy
are helped moreso.

I'm making that point right here and now.....because at the end of the day,
anything short of Obama's reelection at a time of Koch Brothers money, Crazy rabid
RW Republicans, and a media that appears to hate the guts of progressives for the most part,
this will be a uphill climb, period.
