Thank You Florida!!! Amtrak, 15 States Get $2 Billion That Florida Lost
Amtrak and rail projects in 15 states are being awarded the $2 billion that Florida lost after the governor canceled plans for high-speed train service, the Department of Transportation said Monday.

The largest share of the money—nearly $800 million—will be used to upgrade train speeds from 135 mph to 160 mph on critical segments of the heavily traveled Northeast corridor, the department said in a statement.

Another $404 million will go to expand high-speed rail service in the Midwest, including newly constructed segments of 110-mph track between Detroit and Chicago that are expected to save passengers 30 minutes in travel time.

Nearly $340 million will go toward state-of-the-art locomotives and rail cars for California and the Midwest. California will also get another $300 million toward trains that will travel up to 220 mph between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

1. I will personally send a thank you note to Rick Scott.
I'll tell him how grateful we are that he has chosen to keep the people of FL in the Stone Age while the rest of the country prospers.

5. Not a bad idea.
Maybe all of us who live in states that are getting some of the money should do the same. And maybe we should invite Floridians up here to possibly get a job working on the projects.

2. Just heard about that on the local news
Some of the $ is going to help fund an Iowa City to Chicago route which will run right through the Quad Cities. It should create jobs and will make getting to Chicago much easier.

7. Maybe this is better
The jobs created will now be spread out among many states.

As for Florida, they are getting their just punishment for elected that bald headed fool.

8. A good example of flexing your ego and depriving your brain of
oxygen in the process.

I know some people who voted for him that have buyer's remorse. I tried to warn them...I truly did.

11. Oh well. Another 50 years and the whole state of Florida will be under water anyway.
What with Greenland melting and weather becoming more extreme what land in the state isn't just submerged by rising sea levels will be picked up blown into the gulf anyway.

12. Thank Rick Scott, please. "Florida" didn't pick him any more than America picked Bush.
