The Taliban wasn't behind 9/11, there's virtually no al Qaeda left in Afghanistan,
we're not going to invade Pakistan, and Osama bin Laden is dead. There remains no justifiable reason to keep our guys & gals in the Graveyard of Empires. BRING. THEM. HOME. NOW!

8. We broke it and it will take time to fix it.
We have a moral obligation to not leave them in the shambles of war.

12. Worse than what?
It was tribal before we moved in, and it still is.

14. Right. And it'll stay that way.
And the Taliban---whom I am NO fan of---probably will retake power when we leave. But that's gonna happen anyway, be it tomorrow, next month, next year, 2050. We cannot build every nation, especially the ones that aren't really nations, but collections of tribes. Why spill even one more drop of American blood in a situation we will never make any lasting change on?

13. I would suggest that we did not
The Taliban were executing people in soccer stadiums, they'd banned kite flying, music, and women holding jobs or being educated. They blew up the Bamiyan Bhuddas. They cheerfully harbored Al Qaeda and took OBL's money.

We didn't make it better, but it may not have been possible to make it worse.
