Wither Gingrich; W.H. Seizes On Newt's News
The White House piped up Wednesday about GOP outrage over Newt Gingrich’s criticism of Rep. Paul Ryan’s Medicare plan.

Communications director Dan Pfeiffer typed on Twitter, “Biggest takeaway from the Gingrich flap - ending Medicare as we know it is the new GOP litmus test.”

Pfeiffer's comment is the latest example of the White House welding the Ryan budget plan as a political weapon going into 2012.

Gingrich had already sensed Democrats would mobilize to use his words – describing Ryan’s plan as "right-wing social engineering” – against his party. In a Fox News interview on Tuesday night, he insisted: “Let me say on the record, any ad which quotes what I said Sunday is a falsehood. I have said publicly, those words were inaccurate and unfortunate.”
