I hope Obama doesn't kill the War Powers Act

I hope tonight in his speech he makes clear that he is going to follow the requirements under that law. As I understand it, that means getting approval from Congress to continue the war in Libya.

Otherwise it would be a terrible precedent. Presidents could wage war much more easily. Good wars as well as bad ones.

4. What is so outrageous?

There is a Repuglican proposal before Congress now, as part of the defense bill, that would effectively repeal the War Powers Act.

As far as I know, Pres. Obama has not said whether or not he will veto the bill if this provision is included.

So, questions about the future of the War Powers Act and the powers of the president to wage war seem reasonable and quite apropos at this time.
