1. Compared to Bush's 16 months long 90 to 70% after 9/11, it is horrid......

But as we know, Americans have different standards for different folks.

If you are a failure from jump street, and you fail some more....people like that.
If you are a success and are competent, 40 to 20% less is what you get.

USA, USA, USA!

4. Bush isn't Black
Had he been, nothing would have gotten him those ratings. IMO, natch. There's no way O will ever get the credit he deserves.
:grr:

15. After the death of Bin Laden,
I really expected his approval ratings to be much, much higher. Bush got ridiculously high approval ratings because of 9/11 and people felt it was patriotic to support the president.

I agree that Obama probably won't get the credit he deserves, at least not while in office, but I think history will be very generous to him.

:hi:

16. I agree about history, if, of course, we can keep the Texas school board out of it. :7
People still think Reagan was a great President. :eyes :. Those who are interested, though, KNOW. :pals:

19. I can't remember at what point
I noticed that Reagan was being revered instead of ridiculed, but I know I was a bit shocked. I had to go back into my memory banks to see if there was something I'd overlooked. History gotten rewritten very quickly in his case and most of it was based on wishful thinking.

2. 50% approval is a good sign.
I sure as hell don't want ANY Republican, despite my misgivings regarding President Obama.

3. I have NO misgivings regarding Obama....

5. I have a LOT of misgivings about Obama - I'm white - and if asked I would say Disapprove
i know some of you think he's great, but IMO he's not. If you want me to list the wars, the medical marijuana raids, his love of all things corporate, his total neglect of the poor and homeless - I will. I've got a lot more than that that I'm not happy with him about either.

That said - he is better than ANY republican (which in reality isn't really saying much).

14. Can you find me a presidential candidate that can accomplish
those goals that you've outlined as failure?

Will be waiting for your response.

9. Given that sitting Presidents with approvals above 40
generally are re-elected, 50 is quite good.

11. Just for some context

Ronald Reagans approval rating was 43%

Bill Clinton's approval rating was 47%

at the EXACT same point of their Presidential administrations.

20. Good News
but, how many Liberals still have a negative approval rating for him? These voters will still vote for them even though they think he is too Conservative in their minds. I would guess another 5% would be these voters so Obama is looking good.

I don't know why people keep speculating, it's going to be Mitt Romney against him.
