I'm a 40 year old male that wants a progressive woman president in 2016.
Call me sexist, but that's what I want.

They are just as smart as men and they just might do a better job.

Of course, the most important criteria is that they are a progressive liberal; and not the phony type. :)

"I'm a 40 year old male that wants a progressive woman president in 2016."

You specified "progressive" and "woman". Not "best person for the job".

28. Exactly.
You "want" a progressive WOMAN president.

I WANT a good president and am not going to jump on any bandwagon just because it has a vagina. I don't think it's time we had any particular gender, race, etc. as president. You, on the other hand, "think it's time" we had a woman.

I think it's time we had a Jewish president. Or, Muslim. Hey...how about we elect an Atheist? Seriously...it's time we let go of this crap and just focus on the individual. The more we separate people by whichever label fits them best, the more difficult it is to keep the Democratic party together. Have you noticed that we're a pretty friggin diverse party? What if the Latinos would only "want" a Latino president? I saw this happen with the Hillaryites. They were so outraged (and some still are) that they refused to vote or worse, voted for Sarah Palin because she was a WOMAN.

Screw that mess. I'll stick with voting blue.

7. Elizabeth Warren seems to be the ONLY one that Fits that.
The hard part is finding a real progressive, let alone a progressive woman who is in politics. Most the remaining women have either already been pulled to the dark side (dlc) or aren't charismatic (or known that well) to have any shot.

I hope to god no one here suggests Hillary Clinton -- you'd might as well vote republican if you think of voting hillary...she's totally for wall street.

How is that any different than saying you want a progressive male president?

Frankly, its also an insulting appeal to cater the favor of women. That in itself is sexist, and reeks of male chauvinism.

31. You don't have to specify "male" when talking about US presidents
It's the norm.

Just as you don't have to say "straight" couple (but somehow have to designate same-sex partnerships as "gay" couples).

The majority of people in this country are women, whether straight or gay, white, black, Hispanic, or Asian. It's remarkable that we've never had a single one of them serve as either president or vice-president.

This is not to say I'd vote for a woman just because they are female (I supported Obama over Clinton in the primaries, but probably would have supported Hillary if he hadn't been in the race).

national attention needed to be viable. Dems need to consider giving some of their female colleagues a chance to shine in the national spotlight during the campaign next year. Perhaps give one of them an important speech like President Obama had during the national convention.

Although I do admit it would be fun to have a woman in the White House. Those mouth breathers who can't stand to have a bi-racial president would be just as apoplectic at having a female.

The ability to do this almost guarantees their being progressive, and it almost guarantees their being a woman. But without my having to specify either one.

Oh, and they should have the ability to say "no" and make it stick, i.e. "no means no, and if you mess with me you will face ALL the force of ALL my allies, at once".

If she has the right qualifications, experience and a progressive stance on issues. I didn't vote for Clinton last time because I didn't agree with her stances nor did I agree with the way she ran as a candidate. I think there are some good possibilities out there for the next three presidential elections starting with 2016. It is pretty hard to predict what some potential candidates will do between now and then, so I think naming names is futile.

57. My opinion....
I think that 'maybe' for 'some' men it is not important to see a 'female' president in our life time - because they are men and 'maybe' they don't understand what it would mean for 'us women' that have never had the opportunity to have a female president in the White House.
I wonder how men would feel if there had 'never ever' been a male in the Oval Office before?
I think their opinion would change quite quickly ;)
