On Memorial Day, Veterans and Soldiers give Obama lower marks - Gallup
don't shoot the messenger, man... maybe the whole ENDLESS WAR thing has people a little ticked off?

http://www.gallup.com/poll/147839/Military-Personnel-Veterans-Give-Obama-Lower-Marks.aspx

PRINCETON, NJ -- U.S. military veterans and those currently on active military duty are less likely to approve of President Obama's job performance than are Americans of comparable ages who are not in the military.

Americans who currently serve or previously served in the U.S. military are less likely to approve of the job President Obama is doing than are those who have not served in the military, by about 10 percentage points. This approval gap occurs across age groups.

2. 7 FEWER families will have sons. daughters, brothers and sisters home any time soon...
7 US soldiers killed in Afghanistnam last week... if we had a mass murderer kill 7 in Chicago it'd be on the news for a week... but 7 more kids over THERE and nary a peep.

5. I think it has more to do with the fact that the military tends to lean conservative.

4. I suspect...
it's even higher than the polls suggest. The military and veteran portion had a high pct. of "Refused" which means they declined to give an opinion.

And they are taught NEVER to talk crap about the CiC in that uniform. So a good pct. of that "Refused" probably also think he's a steaming pile...

9. Purely political. Most of those on active duty were GOPers.
Source: I was active duty for 9 years.

10. This poll was pre Bin Laden.. and this is a voluntary military who believe
in going after the architect of 9/11. Coming from a family who has many in the military..this poll could reflect officers..but you can take it to the bank it does not reflect boots on the ground.

By the way.. they are more than ready for this to be over and come home..and they are seeing the pull down in Iraq and the first real possibilities (even though Afghanistan pull-down was already in the pipeline) of ending these wars.. our reason for being there has been caught.. our promise has been kept.

There was no promise kept reality until Bin Laden had been captured or killed..

So I think I will wait for the next three month poll

11. If Obama was white and Republican, they'd be sky high. If there'd just been a 9/11 event...
The whole country (practically) would love him to death.

The article is meaningless tripe, IMO.

:patriot:

To all troops and veterans, thank you for your service.

16. Not THIS veteran.
I give him EXTREMELY high marks.
Has he been tough enough on Wall St.? No. But "citizens united" made that a cast-iron bitch.
Has he closed Gitmo? No. Thank his own party in Congress who refused to fund transferring the prisoners.

He HAS made a first step on Universal Health Care. NO, it's not what I wanted. But it was a foot in the door, and it DID remove some barriers to states going to single-payer - on opportunity Vermont just took adfvantage of.
He DID sign into law the Ledbetter Act and expansions of SCHIP & Medicaid, ordered the DoJ to stop defending DoMA, restored federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, ordered the Armed Forces to stop enforcing DADT, began drawing down troops in Iraq, implmented federal contracting for
women-owned businesses, among too many other things to list here.

Oh, and he got Osama Bin Laden.

That he has accomplished what he has in the face of such unprecedented, unprincipled, childish and vindictive opposition is remarkable to me.

19. I would love to see a breakdown of the military numbers...
as to where they LIVE. Specifically on a state by state basis.
