I'm sick of hearing the "Democrats don't have a budget" lie
that the Republicans have been parroting for weeks (months?) now, especially whenever the debt ceiling issue is discussed. President Obama and the progressive caucus in the House both put out budgets. Now, I never expected in a 1000 years for either budget to actually be given serious consideration by the GOP-controlled House as a negotiation point but it really pisses me off that the Republicans have (albeit unsurprisingly) been able to get away with claiming over and over again that the Democrats don't have a budget plan when they damn well do, both of which are good under the circumstances (and even the supposedly "serious" and "responsible" Ryan plan projects deficits for several more years AND raises the debt ceiling). I don't have high expectations for the corporate media to cover the situation fairly let alone accurately but it still makes me want to
:argh: :grr: :banghead: :puke:
every single time I have to listen to right-wing lies like this!!!

2. Thank you for posting this..the media cannot suck up any more to liars
then they do now.. it is because they have to keep a story ginned so people will tune.

Stating the obvious has become something we will all have to do.. from here on out.. before we even let a question get by.. we are going to have to state the obvious as crazy as that seems

President Obama and the Democratic Party in general will apparently have to do the media's job and "spoon feed" the public so that they understand what the hell is really going on. They just gotta do what they gotta do! :banghead:

4. I heard that lie this morning, and if you say it enough times...
...it apparently comes true. This morning on Morning Moron: while I don't believe that O'Donnell (not Kelly, the other one on MSNBC - the one with the hilarious hiccup laugh) is not a liberal, I do think she's fair, and she didn't dispute Buchanan's lie that "there is no Democratic budget plan." She said that's absolutely true, and Carl Bernstein didn't dispute it, and neither did Rendell. It has been said so many times that even they can't clear their minds enough to say, hey, wait just a minute...

5. The Ryan budget and the Obama budget were both defeated in the Senate.
The Obama budget went down 97-0. http://www.politico.com/politico44/perm/0511/_7afd0b1d-fd69-4f0b-9fa9-c5e98b5cb77a.html So no one has a budget now.

6. Yet everybody acts like the Ryan plan is the ONLY plan worthy of any serious consideration
Edited on Thu Jun-02-11 03:42 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
It's been rejected by the Senate and overwhelmingly by the public (including conservatives), yet it's still considered THE PLAN (or template) for any future negotiations or plan. :puke: :banghead: Just because the Obama budget and the progressive budget (as well as Ryan's budget) went down in flames doesn't mean that parts of it can't be used in negotiations for a final plan, right?
As predicted I'm afraid that things are pretty much at a complete stalemate and will probably remain so for until at least 2013 (and that will, of course, depend entirely on the makeup of Congress and the WH by then). Everything coming out of the Republican Tea Party-controlled House is going to be too extreme for the Democratic-controlled Senate & WH and NOTHING President Obama nor the Democrats in the Senate propose will EVER be acceptable to the Republican Tea Party because they want this country to fail so that they can manage to get back into power by blaming President Obama and the Democrats for the current/resulting mess. IMHO it will take a government shutdown, a (near-)default on our debt (maybe), and/or some kind of cataclysmic event to get the Republicans and Democrats in Washington DC to ever work together again in a spirit of mutual goodwill and cooperation for the sake of the American people (though I know who's really trying and who's NOT). :banghead:

7. Re: I'm sick of hearing the "Democrats don't have a budget" lie
Actually, Obama and "the progressive caucus" did put out budget proposals, but the truth of the matter is that NONE of them received a single vote (0 votes from Republicans, AND 0 votes from Democrats) so they were, for all intent and purposes, defeated. So, in effect, the "Republicans" are right - the Democrats have no plan (remember - they've offered nothing since!). Personally, I'd like to see our side propose a realistic and sustainable budget, but for whatever reason they seem to be more interested in the blame game at present.
