New National Poll: Obama 50 Christie 34/ Obama 45 Romney 39
Edited on Fri Jun-10-11 09:16 AM by aaaaaa5a
A new National poll conducted June 1-7, gives Obama a 6 point lead over Romney (45%-39%). Perhaps more interesting, Obama leads Christie 50% to 34%. That is a significant increase over the polls findings against the New Jersey Governor a month ago, when Obama led Christie 46-40%.

This is further proof that despite the press uproar over the ABC poll, that poll seems to be more of an outlier.

1. What is with this media slobberfest over Christie???
:wtf:

He's not even popular enough to win his own state at the moment. I love the smell of Republican desperation in the morning.

6. My guess is since the news media is HQed in NYC, they overestimate how famous nearby politicians are
The same can be said for Giulliani and Bloomberg. These are guys that are huge in that area and are often discussed moving to the national stage, but the rest of the country doesn't really seem to give a shit about them and the media loses sight of that because if you work in the media then these are they guys that everyone you know in town is talking about.

13. Nothing Christie does is little
A ride on a corporate sponsored blimp would have been more appropriate. After he's out of office I expect to see him selling shade at the Jersey Shore or advertising space on his behind.

4. I just find it funny

how about 3 or 4 National polls come out in one week. 3 of them give the President very good numbers and you don't hear a thing about it from the media. 1 poll comes out giving the President average numbers, and it is spun out of control, making it seem like the President has already lost the election.

I have never understood what critics are talking about when it comes to a liberal media bias!

Why didn't CNN and Morning Joe spend the week dissecting the Reuters Poll instead of the ABC one?

Where is the National headlines on this (OP) poll?

One caveat, Obama's numbers are down in Pennsylvania. But this state hasn't gone GOP since 2008. So there is time to recover.

7. All they'd have to do is run a soundbite
where he talks about having to cut spending, then show him getting off the state helicopter to go to his son's game.

8. Even without the soundbite, he's a dislikable asshole and looks terrible.
Unless he wants to do like Mike Huckabee did and drop at least 100 lbs and hit the talkshow circuit being capable of friendly conversation so as to appear amiable, he's not going to be ready for primetime.

11. I didn't think Christie was running. Why are they polling against him?
Do they think he will change his mind and run. He has made very strong statements that he won't.

14. If the economy is like this in November 2012...
...Obama could easily lose. All these polls are interesting and give us little snapshots in time of public opinion, but come November 2012 if the economy is not better than it is now we very well may lose even if they nominate crazy Sarah Palin.

My guess is the Republicans will nominate someone with far fewer negatives than Palin. If I had to guess I'd say Rick Perry or Tim Pawlenty. The VP running mate may well be Rubio. A Perry/Rubio or Pawlenty/Rubio ticket or something along those lines will not be a pushover. Despite all Axelrod's pleadings that 2012 should be viewed a choice, it won't be. 2012 will be a referendum on Obama just like it is on any President running for a 2nd term. If things suck, some people will vote for the opposition. If things suck enough, many people will vote for the opposition even if their nuts.

People should NOT get over confident.

16. The economy is like this now and Obama is doing fine in the polls..
I think if we sink into a recession like 2008 then all bets are off.

after all that has happened and all the RW bashing.. that's a powerful statement and shows a solid level of support no matter what.
