...having just heard that, in spite of having passed last year, it is nevertheless dying a slow neglected death.

12. I wish more kept on the president, who are in power. things would be better than they are if all
of our Democratic office holders were as progressive as Kooch... And speaking of helping change things, did you see SOS Clinton's work on getting Gay Rights adopted by the UN? It's in the GLBT forum. I am very proud of her.

18. ahem -- It was Pres Obama/his administration that did this, not Clinton specifically
Funny that you blame President Obama for everything you disapprove of and then shift the credit to someone else when he does something good.

Don't believe me? I found numerous articles on Google referring to President Obama himself and his administration doing this, one article naming both Obama and Clinton as praising this move, and only a couple entries naming HClinton herself calling this move historic.

Do you despise President Obama so much that you can't give him credit for anything good? No worries. That's a rhetorical question.

Here's a sampling:

Obama administration calls on United Nations to support gay rights (no mention of Clinton in this article)
http://articles.latimes.com/2011/mar/23/nation/la-na-obama-gays-20110323

Obama to back UN Gay Rights Decree (no mention of Clinton in this article)
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/18/obama-to-back-un-gay-rights-decree/

Obama administration likely to score win for gay rights at UN Human Rights Council (no mention of Clinton in this article)
http://www.startribune.com/nation/124010689.html

Obama administration to demand gay rights support at UN body (no mention of Clinton in his article)

19. you're too accusatory and huffy in your response, thank you.
Edited on Sun Jun-19-11 07:22 AM by Divine Discontent
I didn't attack the president in my post, I congratulated his SOS for a job she's doing great involving the UN. You don't think the president is heavily involved in the UN's affairs do you? That's the belief of right-wingers. I think he made a great choice for SOS, and he is to be congratulated for that, and I'm sure, supporting their vote on rights! What I believe people should do is continue to challenge the president on rights - as there is a portion of your fellow Americans who don't have the same BASIC rights that you have - and that should piss you off, and I assume it does.

21. I didn't accuse you of attacking the president; that's a strawman.
What I did was point out your shifting of credit for doing something positive from President Obama and his administration http://globalequality.wordpress.com/tag/ambassador-susan-rice/">(i.e., Susan Rice) to HClinton in DU's continuing game of primary rehash.

24. my fellow DUer, this is not a primary rehash, as I strongly favored Sen Obama over Sen Clinton, to
the point of probably being quite negative of, then, Sen. Clinton.

And I was the 1st to post about Sen. Obama's nomination victory.

I think the president is a brilliant man, but politically speaking, I think he has continued too many things that the B*sh bastard started. That's the only true fault I see, that I would think every progressive would notice, and could name one instance of instantly without hesitation.

peace!

...instead of Obama's endless wars.

8. Kooch can definitely be called an ankle biter
I've heard stories about him in Ohio Dem circles... He is usually a punch line and not someone that is considered a leader nor a mentor. His ideology is right.. his political awareness and political intelligence are really below average.

I do like that he fights the good fight.. but he does it in the role of an activist and he has never as far as I know evolved beyond that in politics. He is what he is.. and soon it sounds like he might go to Washington State or somewhere else to continue his activism.

If you're looking for a current progressive hero or leader from Ohio - look at Sherrod Brown or Jennifer Brunner... not only is their ideology right but they are also both wicked smart and politically aware.

28. disagree
the issue DK is taking up regarding the definition of war vis a vis Obama's actions in Libya is more than a "nit", it's something all of us, as Americans and Democrats, should be concerned with, whether we think DK is an "ankle bite" or not.

These constant personal denigrations of other Democrats practiced by Obama's more ardent supporters really do nothing for Obama.
