14. true, but it gives me some hope
that he's not going to let the Repubs walk all over him.

he's a decent guy, maybe too decent for Washington and dealing with scum like Boehner and McConnel. We'll see.

17. I'm not one of the ones who automatically assumes Obama is
going to cave on any given issue, but when he first took office I just KNEW he was going to kick butt. He's accomplished a LOT (and I'm still a strong supporter) but I think any President when he actually enters the Oval Office and learns that it's much more complicated than we out here seem to think it would be, has to compromise and just do the best he can. So now when an issue is on the table, I'm a little nervous at what we will have to give up to achieve part of our goals.

I didn't hear the speech (just tuned in) but I'm VERY happy to see you guys saying he's firm about the taxes.

This is a good example, if the debt ceiling isn't raised there will be dire repercussions, but he's aware that the real solution doesn't lie in more tax cuts (just the opposite), so this is a tough call. If he stands firm and the Republicans stick to their threat of not going along with raising the ceiling, we suffer. If he acquiesces and agrees to the tax cuts, we suffer.
