Has President Obama ever said that he wants to appoint Elizabeth Warren as head of the CFPB?
Edited on Thu Jun-30-11 01:09 PM by Freddie Stubbs
Has anyone who works for him ever said this?

Usually when the President wants someone in a position, he nominates them. After that the Senate may approve it, or it may stall the nomination by not holding hearings or filibustering. If the President really wants the stalled nominee in office, he then makes a recess appointment.

President Obama has made recess appointments in the past. Last March he made 15 of these:

But he hasn't even sent Ms. Warren's nomination to the Senate for confirmation. If he really wanted her in that job, don't you think that he would actually nominate her?

1. Well, he appointed her as the non-official creator of the agency when it was approved.
So presumably he associates and approves of her in some kind of managerial role there, if possible.

2. But why hasn't he appointed her to actually RUN the agency?
Currently, she is a "Special Advisor" for the agency. She has held that position for over nine months now.

Elizabeth Warren Didn't Want Permanent Appointment To CFPB: Frank

First Posted: 09-16-10 04:06 PM | Updated: 09-16-10 04:15 PM

Elizabeth Warren made it clear to the White House while it was debating her nomination to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that she was not interested in a five-year term to run the agency. Barney Frank, a Warren ally, delivered that message to the White House, he told HuffPost in an interview Thursday.

"She always said she didn't want to be there as a permanent director. Some of the liberals are worried about it. It's almost an insult to Elizabeth. She wouldn't take this if there was the slightest impediment to her doing the job," he said.

<..> "Frankly, on her behalf, I talked to David Axelrod earlier this year, and I said, 'You know, Elizabeth doesn't want a full five year term. She'd like to set this up,'" said Frank. "She told me that, and I told Axelrod that."

Does what she wants count?

6. My guess is that he's waiting until after the debt talks
August would be a good time for an appointment because people won't all be on vacation like Memorial day and 4th of July.
