Prediction: GOP and their servile media will successfully blame Obama for all Medicare and SS cuts.

And, because of that success, whatever lame-ass candidate they put up for 2012 will have a far greater chance to win in 2012.

I remember clearly when the Democrats took ALL the hits from congressional mail scandal, though Republican congressmen were the majority of wrongdoers.

I also remember clearly when Whitewater became the main focus of S&L scandal scrutiny, though GOP administrations engineered the deregulation of the S&Ls.

The GOP and their media machine can spin ANY of their wars, scandals and crimes into a case against Dems who were/are UNWILLING to hold GOP wrongdoers accountable, and ARE willing to accept GOP lies as the foundation for most any policy debate.

1. It's time for Krugman's post 2010 election quote
again

Oh, and for all those older Americans who voted GOP last year because those nasty Democrats were going to cut Medicare, I have just one word: suckers!

The media successfully characterized savings as cuts and with the help of the anti-Obama forces made what should have been a winning issue a negative.

2. Those older people are not suckers. Obama just gave the
Senate and House to Republicans. It is not all about
Obama even if he thinks it is. He cut the legs out
from under the House and Senate. They cannot run
against the Ryan Plan. They cannot run on their
Promise not to cut SS.

5. And going further:
People who voted for Christ Christie, Rick Scott and Scott Walker are suckers.

Feel free to disagree.

7. And, it's happening again with DU knee-jerking. We can't wait to see the actual plan.
We're already talking about primaries, not voting, and shit.

We've already lost the fucking election if every time a Corporate Media outlet plants a seed in our head that Obama is the worst person in the world, we knee jerk react ourselves into demoralizing attitudes.

Let's wait and see what the plan is FIRST!!

11. Amazing to me that so many Dems still believe corporate media spin against Dems.
Which is the point of my thread. If Dems here at DU fall for corpmedia spin, imagine how many casual voters will fall for the GOP/corpmedia spin once its fully engaged during the 2012 election cycle.

9. You've got the wrong number. I said the GOP would have increased chance based on GOP/media spin.
There is nothing in my post or past posts that shows dislike of Obama. FYI, I was an early and continuing supporter of his.

6. If Obama goes along with pushing said cuts, he will deserve not just their blame.
He would deserve our utter rejection, including the loss of our votes in 2012.

We are coming to a critical cutting point about the survival of anything decent in this country; and Obama MAY ally himself with those destroying said decency. If he does, then he deserves MORE blame than the Repukes and the MSM. A viper in our midst is much more dangerous than the venomous snakes surrounding us.

8. Prediction: If they do, some Dems will fall for it
just like the rapid outburst to the WaPo "article" yesterday.

And on and on it goes.

12. That's the GOP trap and Dems are headed straight for it.
They had a surefire campaign issue to run on which would have guaranteed us both the House and Senate. If they take anything away from Medicare . . . even a bandaid . . . that's the ball game. Republicans will counter any attack on their support of the Ryan plan with "Dems did it, too."
