1. Expect some bashers to throw rain on the parade, but I am ecstatic
as King continues to make a total fool of himself:

2. Did you hear that Gov.Christy of NJ is headed this way to campaign for him?
Edited on Sat Jul-16-11 02:47 PM by Peacetrain
He has to be one nervous person rural.

He has refused to debate his opponent the last two elections.. I don't see how he wiggles out of it this time

3. Wonder how he will duck a debate with Vilsack?
in the past King has claimed his opponent unworthy of his presence. Can't do that to one of the state's top families.
And Christy? He may yet be popular in Western Iowa, but his luster is pretty much gone.

I plan to send her a few bucks next week.

4. I can't even begin to tell you how exciting this is..
He can try, but will look the fool.. He has been able to get away with quite a bit here on the western border..but if he does to Vilsack what he did to the last two canidates.. the middle of the road R's will revolt.

I have had a suspicion that they (local republicans) have been looking for a reason, any reason to break away from the fringe who has taken over their party.

This should be good!

Who will STAND and FIGHT for THIS American Majority?
You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.

10. That is just BS.. pure and simple..
I live in this district.. I am a Democrat.. and we are THRILLED to have Vilsack running..

Take it to the bank.

There is actually a chance to move King out with Vilsack.

11. Oh, then you already KNOW about Vilsack's ties to Monsanto.
I guess there ARE some people who cheer the 3rd Way/DLC Corporatization of our government.
I'm not one of them.

Cheers.

12. I will take the victory.
And move on from there.

Democrats are practical people who get what they can get done, and don't fall on the petard of political purity..

13. No,
..some fall on their petard of not questioning Anything with a "D" after their names.
That is HOW our Party got in such bad shape,
and HOW our country has lurched so FAR to the Right over the last 30 years.

Congratulations.

14. Let me give you a little reality check...
King has not debated his last two opponents..

He will have not be able to avoid Christy Vilsack the way he did Roxanne Conlin.

We may not be able to get this seat with Christy..but we have a hell of a lot better chance than anyone else.

So I hope you will be congratulating me in November.

I don't know what party YOU belong to.. but MY party is the Democratic Party and we are running Christy Vilsack.

15. What I never understand is this:
Different districts are just that: different. Some palces are just conservative, and if that mean's a more conservative Dem -- then it is a way to start moving things to a more liberal stance. Sometimes, slow and easy does it. (Take a look at Kristen Gillibrand upsetting John Sweeney in 2006 for her representative seat... That was a former district of mine, when I lived in NYS.)

I now live in Jim Moran's district, I have seen people condemn him for being *hawkish* or not liberal enough, but in all reality -- we have a LOT of military people here. I live in Alexandria Virginia. Te MARK center is coming to our district. No WAY in hell would this area (and my direct neighborhood in the city is rather left) would ever vote for someone that doesn't take care of them.

He held a jobs fair, in order to get people to pay attention, he called it a Jobs Boot camp. Why? We have a lot of vets looking for work.

Some people have actually said this makes him a blue dog. I say it makes him a pragmatic representative of his district. I would like MORE people to do that.

When I was in Atlanta, I lived in a very different district, John Lewis was my representative -- and he represented his district the way people asked him to.

SO I wish you much luck, Peace. This sounds very very good for you and the people in your district!

16. Yep.. its an uphill battle..last election..king got 66% of the vote.
Poor Matt Campbell took it on the chin..but he never had a chance because King refused to debate him.. He refused to debate the canidate before that.

And when you are so deep in the red.. you have to bring in someone that is going to move you a long the lines.. get the wagon out of the mud as it were.

We need all the good thoughts we can get our way.. :hi:

17. Christy Vilsack is not Tom. Even if she were his clone
I would take a Dem that could be persuaded to change any fucking day over the original crazy fucking right wing King.
The chances of dennis Kucinich getting elected in this very red district are zero, zilch, nada.
The chances for Christy Vilsack to remove one of the original cancer cells of extreme republican ideology are good.

Do you sincerely believe we should turn our backs on Christy Vilsack because she does not meet your purity standards?

Tom Vilsack is the single biggest reason that a fucking Chimp was allowed to spend an additional stolen term in the White House..

He fucked the Iowa caucus, leaving us with the weakest nominee since Dukakis.

I do not trust Tom Vilsack, nor do I trust anyone who trusts him. And if someone is married to him, then I would assume she does. I would further assume that her politics are as bad as his, since no real Democrat could possibly stand to be married to such a vile scumbag.

19. You know what they say about the word "assume" sonny jim
It will make an ass out of u and me

you really are out there in the ether.. you do not understand the Iowa caucuses.. for good or ill.. it is about the people who turn out that night, or the people you can turn out that night.

Politicians can do only so much.. on that night it is about us, the voters who get to the caucuses.

And sometimes it is tough stuff to stand with your neighbors and get your point of view out.

and those of us who live in the state, do our part to drive people who cannot get there.. icy roads and all, because we are committed to getting out the vote, and we have a party platform we work from

Yes we are part of an organized group call the Iowa Democratic Party..

So you can take your "assume" and ....

at the firefighters. When they went for Kerry that swung the deal.
