The audacity to get s… done

If this farce we’re now witnessing wasn’t so dangerous, it would be no less than hilarious. This is such an extraordinary embarrassment, all one can do is laugh. Alas, it’s dangerous. Very. And don’t even get me started with the unprofessional left, they’re on my last nerve. I hope they’re happy with what they’ve done to all of us in 2010.

Anyway, in the midst of this madness, the one and only sane person left in Washington will announce one of the most PROGRESSIVE energy initiatives in history – Coming through, wait for it, wait for it: A compromise! (insert hair-on-fire icon). 10:50 AM ET.

The NYT:

DETROIT — Four years ago, the American auto industry was so opposed to higher fuel economy standards that executives of Detroit camped out in Washington in an unsuccessful bid to undercut them.

The new standards are seen by the Obama administration as critical to reducing oil consumption and cutting consumer expenses at the pump, and the White House made it clear to Detroit executives that the changes were coming and they needed to cooperate.

It is an extraordinary shift in the relationship between the companies and Washington. But a lot has happened in the last four years, notably the $80 billion federal bailout of General Motors, Chrysler and scores of their suppliers, which removed any itch for a politically charged battle from the carmakers.

1. "the one and only sane person left in Washington"
I worry about the brain of a person who says something so dripping in hyperbole and hero worship. Yet I've noticed it's a favorite source of some here. Hmmm.

2. The "unprofessional left" didn't do anything to asnyone in 2010
Democratic politicians did not do much to present a clear and meaningful alternative to the "swing voters."

8. Are you happy at the FACTS that the OP has announced?
Guess some people could care less about liberal policy initiatives.

9. Unrec the slander of good Democrats and Bernie Sanders
What frightening fanzine hype. And just because of that offensive crap, I will point out that this glorious compromise has some good sounding elements, but the only way this 'deal' got made at all is that the administration agreed to review these standards prior to 2016 and adjust them then. So all this grand 'compromise' really did is kick the can down the road to 2013 when the actual standards will actually be agreed to. How to compromise? Never really make a decision!
