11. Actually Self described Liberals are almost split between Democratic Party
and non-Democratic Party(mostly Independent but a small percent are Republican). This has been true for some time.

15. Got a citation on that?
And a breakdown of how those "liberals" compare to liberal Democrats? Because something tells me that you'd find a lot of daylight between a "liberal" who doesn't define themselves as a Democrat, and liberal Dems. Naderite types are rarer than they appear.

22. Just look at the gallop polls for 2010
http://www.gallup.com/poll/141032/2010-conservatives-outnumber-moderates-liberals.aspx

http://www.gallup.com/poll/145463/democratic-party-drops-2010-tying-year-low.aspx

Independents are 36% liberal, but make up 38% of electorate

Democratic Party are 39% liberal, but only make up 31% of electorate

Republican Party are 3% liberal, but only make up 29% of electorate

once you do the math it's a near split.

52. You misread that. Independents are 19% liberal, 36% conservative,
and 41% moderate. That would make about 60% of liberals Democrats.

35. Here's a single citation.
I am an unaffiliated liberal. I was once a registered Democrat. I am probably more liberal now than I have ever been in my 60 years.

I doubt that most of the Democrats that say they are liberal, are as liberal as independents. The true liberals like me left the party starting 30 years ago, and I have no doubts are still leaving it.

In my opinion the Democratic Party and liberal have very little in common, especially under President Obama.

Yes, your reaction is emotional. And not rationally based. You believe something because you have anecdotes for it, not because you have evidence for it. Okay--suppose all your friends agree with you.

Newsflash: your friends are not statistically representative of all Democrats, all liberals, or even just very liberal Democrats.

There's an old anecdote, from the 1972 Presidential Election. It was election night at McGovern HQ, and the word had just come down that they got destroyed, losing 49 states. One of the people at the party was heard to remark in a shocked voice, "But everyone I know voted for McGovern!"

Your gut instincts and the opinions of your friends have about as much statistical weight as when the global warming deniers point to winter as evidence that global warming doesn't exist: because I see one thing in one place, from my limited perspective, therefore it must be true EVERYWHERE.

It isn't.

12. OH Surprise, surprise, considering the alternatives...And there are other numbers there...
The number of self-identified conservatives has been increasing, and Obamas overall approval is skittering along its lowest levels.

In other words, the cult of personality aside, and the "captive liberals" aside, under President Obama and tge Democratic Party, the country is skittering steadily to the right since Obama took over.

He sure is doing a great job of shifting the center of gravity to the right instead of leftward.

And probably helping about a complete GOP takeover next year.

16. It's not Democrats he has to worry about, it's Independents.
Between 2008 and 2010 he went from having an 8% lead over Republicans among Independents to a 15% deficit among them. He lost 23% of Independent voters in two years.

27. But, I have a narrative to push!
Stop it! I have FRIENDS who HATE Obama! It couldn't be that I'm friends with them because we think similarly, and thus would be likely to have similar opinions about the president, and those who are dissatisfied are louder than those who are satisfied! It must be a conspiracy by the radical fringe right to destroy us!

46. Totally depends on how the question was worded
If the question is, "are you glad that Obama won in 2008 instead of McCain?" then I'd be a "yes."

If the question were, "do you think Obama is the greatest president of you lifetime and doing a fantastic job?" then I'd give a resounding NO.
