Thank you, President Obama...
For clearing up a nagging question that I've had for a long time.

Since you were elected, you've been very much an enigma to me in that I could never quite put my finger on where you stood on many issues that are vitally important to me and, I would argue, a majority of people. Believe me, I've really tried to give the benefit of the doubt with fantasies of smart political gamesmanship and multi-dimensional chess, but alas it is now crystal-clear. You are either just another corporate owned politician following the money or a weak one.

Do you stand with the poor and middle-class vs. Big money interests? That question has now been asked and answered. I now know where to direct (or not direct) my energies towards, and I thank you.

It's a shame, really. So much wasted opportunity.

1. You're not going to get very many Recs here in GD:P.
You might have better luck if you post it in GD.

2. Pres. Obama protected SS and Medicare benefits from any cuts and staved off all cuts until 2013...

... when a possible Democratic-controlled House could change policy, if we keep the Senate and WH.

What details of the debt plan are you complaining about, exactly?

7. We had the f---g House last year and couldn't do anything
because they filibustered everything in the Senate. The Republicans only have the House and have controlled the agenda since November last year.

12. True, we never had a solid filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

But the Pelosi-led House was the most productive in modern U.S. history and certainly President Obama was hugely successful at passing relatively liberal legislation while Speaker Pelosi ruled it.

9. I truely hope that you are right, Clark...
As I said, I've really tried to give the benefit of the doubt...maybe I'm not seeing the big picture...I hope that is the case.

I'd like to know what actual information people are using to come to the conclusion that the President cares nothing for the average voter.

Legislation comes through the House and Senate. When the GOP controls the House and a faction of that party is damned near insane, how good can you expect protections for the average citizen to be?

14. We have to work hard to take back the House and not sit on our collective Democratic asses, tho.
Keeping the Senate will take hard work, too, as we might well lose that. The WH needs our support, too, because a President Romney is unthinkable.

3. My efforts will be directed at state and local political
races. I don't live in Wisconsin, but I am not far from the southern border. My parents, several cousins, and my daughter all live there. Most of my assistance will be going to that state, to help defeat the forces of evil there.

Obama will have my vote, but not my support. There will be no door-knocking, no financial contributions, no phone-banking, no signs in the yard. I have been an activist since helping my dad, when I was eight years old. It will be a big adjustment, but I am sick of being kicked in the teeth.

I understand there are times when a pragmatic balanced approach is required, but there are also times when logic and morals and fucking hard data should dictate how a leader should lead.

Pretty simple really.

21. Look at the debt deal as regards wealth inequality
...and be sure to factor in that it virtually guarantees the end of the Bush tax cuts, finally, as well as securing the phasing in of universal health care. In ten years, this is the first legislation that could actually turn around the acceleration of the top 1%, and the long slide of the bottom 50%. Check back in four years - its actually good legislation, and a real change.
