When you live in a red district as I do.. you understand what a whopping success Wisconsin was!
I have been posting here for almost four years.. everyone and their brother knows I live in Steve Kings district in Iowa.

My Democrat friends are bang on positive. We live in a red area, where most of the talk in the coffee shops is going to be tea party or republican.

I can't imagine what it would be like to live in an area where it was mostly blue positives.

My guess is that it would be pretty self affirming.

When Wisconsin recalled 2 of its state reps in gerrymandered republican districts.. I was and am over the moon, because I know how hard that is.

Think about it. Walker has 87% or so positive polls in the republican areas. 87%.. and in those same republican areas.. we recalled two of them.

It is just mind blowing. What people are able to do against impossible odds is something to celebrate and be hopeful about.

Gives me hope!

5. If Christie gets this.. and we are able to move Steve out of here
it would be amazing..absolutely amazing.. and I have hope in this...even though we are talking Dutch Reformed north of us..

But I bet you he will not debate her. He has not debated any opponent since he got in office. And the thing is, it has worked for him

He barely squeezed in the first time he ran.

But he has not been up against a named opponent like Christie before. So you bet.. bubbly will be on ice

23. Yes.
She should have a big enough profile in the state for the media to pay attention to her.

14. One thing about King - he will do everything he can to fix the election
he is afraid of fighting a fair fight, so expect some truly dirty crap.
Also, I would bet there will be a good chunk of Koch etc. money given to him.

8. Forget the spin...
Think of it like this, view the situation for what it really is.

The Republicans win everything in Wisconsin in Nov 2010 with solid majorities. They throw all caution aside and pass the most regressive, vicious, outrageous attack on the middle class and workers that Wisconsin has probably ever seen. They do this in the face of virtually all polling that shows the majority of Wisconsin citizens absolutely oppose what they are doing. Mission accomplished.

Now, the Republicans know there will be a backlash. When a party pushes something through that is so incredibly drastic and unpopular, they understand there will be a period of anger and organized counterattacks. The Republicans hunker down and attempt to weather the storm. They survived the supreme court fight, and now they've survived the recall efforts. Sure, they come out bloodied, but they expected to take some hits. At the end of the day, they still got their union busting legislation through. And they know because human nature is what it is, it will be near impossible for the working folks to keep up the energy to counter attack forever.

Each election is different. Getting close is not a victory because you can't count on the same energy being there for you during the next fight.

9. If I lived my life that way... There would be no point to even trying..
And getting two out of red districts is a victory.

And each election is different. People have to work at each election.

16. Yeeeeaaayyy the cheerleader has arrived...
Oh wait, it's just another of your interminable, neutral-sounding, outside observer appearing "analysis" posts about a democratic undertaking. Come on -- Jump in the "cheer leading the Dems" pool --The water is just fine.

We HAVE the energy to keep it up, no thanks to ilk like you, though.

20. The recalls aren't done yet.
"and now they've survived the recall efforts."

Nope.

Due to WI law, the Republicans elected in 2010 are not eligible for recall yet.

Yet.

13. I live in a red area, too.
My county and one adjacent were the only two in Northern Illinois that did not go blue for Obama. When a Democrat makes a good showing in this county, it is something to brag about.

This is a very big accomplishment for Wisconsin.

I know they will keep working to recall Scottie, and to elect even more Democrats in 2012.

On, Wisconsin!

15. I Live In Florida In A Red Sea... I KNOW What You're Talking About!
Living in Florida a la 2000 wasn't enough, somehow I also get to live in a county that elected Katherine "Cruella" Harris as their Congressional Representative for TWO TERMS! And there's even more crap that's gone on since then. No sense in going into all of it though.

Nuff said!

19. K & R - Winning two seats is a very big deal, and it does put the brakes on Walker...
....the R's now have only a one-seat majority, and they've got Dale Schultz who voted AGAINST the union busting bill.

This is huge. Thanks for recognizing that. Anything else is right-wing spin.
