New GOP Strategy Involves Reelecting Obama, Making His Life Even More Miserable
WASHINGTON — Calling a GOP victory in the 2012 presidential election antithetical to the party platform, top Republicans revealed a new long-term political strategy Tuesday: reelecting Barack Obama and making his life even more of a living hell than it already is.

"For three years, the Republican Party has coalesced around the single goal of making President Obama's every waking moment sheer and utter torture," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters. "But we can't continue to do that if he's not in office."

"If we are going to make the president a haggard shell of a human being by the time he leaves the White House, we need four more years of never compromising, four more years of miring every piece of legislation in unnecessary procedural muck, four more years of pretending we want to work with the president and then walking away from the table at the last second," McConnell added. "Four more years! Four more years! Obama 2012!"

According to GOP sources, the decision to cede the 2012 election to Obama came after rank-and-file Republicans agreed that grinding the president down to nothing and pushing him to the brink of insanity was far more in line with the Republican Party's core principles than actually controlling the White House, making laws, or governing the country.

1. Their ODS might just make that the truth. And in return,
the biggest ODS sufferers might need straitjackets by the end of his second term.

:)

Edit: Well, at least the "re-electing Obama" part.

3. I do get the feeling he's not having a lot of fun.
I remember Bill Clinton was energetic to the end and just did not want to stop being president. I don't get that sense from Obama. It looks like it's a chore for him. This can't be fun.

4. Obama hasn't really shown us what he's made of.
They need to work on his last nerve, and then, we'll see the true Obama. Right now he's trying to bring this country together and he has done it in true DLC fashion. Compromising every step of the way, which makes no one happy. Once he figures out that the Republicans will never be happy as long as he's in office, he might realize that the DLC way isn't going to work because it's time to move the country to the Left. For that, he needs Dean more than any of the people counseling him today. If Obama wants to get in touch with the American people, he needs to find the America of the future. Not the America of the past.

Compromising to people who have always gamed the system to stay on top is not the kind of future that most Americans want to be a part of.

5. When you get 98% of what you want why change horses in mid stream?

It does seem a waste though to put up all that money just to lose. On the other hand times are tough and it would be a lot easier to elect a patsy you can blame after you deep six popular programs in the social safety net. Just another indicator of corporate raiders having their way with a pile of money and finding a chump to blame the theft. The lock box was broken open in front of the owners long ago and the savings they were counting on in their old age stolen right out from under their noses. Look for the rallying call "It was Obama's fault".

6. Why not--that's what they did to Clinton.
Admittedly I don't think Obama will help them out by conducting a little Oval Office nookie with an intern like Clinton did, but the Republicans are resourceful and I'm sure they could find some way to drive the poor man nuts and keep him from actually doing anything.

This actually sounds like a pretty good strategy for them.
