Not everything is about the Straw Polls in Iowa.. State Fair begins today
Oh State Fair.. how I love it. From 4-H county fair entries ..driving to State.. sitting all day in the 4-H building listening to speeches by the 4-H presenters.. looking at all the exhibits they made that got them to State.. It is such a sweet sweet piece of life, hard to explain.. but comforting.

Hubby would take his tomatoes and veggies in to open competition.. Of course you would find me in the with the quilts and sewing arts.

But I never ever missed the Butter Cow.. or everything on a stick..

I love the talent competitions..

And all the free goodies .. (I have enough yardsticks to sub roof the garage by the way.)

My son is in his mid 20's now, and lives far away.

But I still love State, as much as I love County Fair.

I will not make it to State this year.. but next year.. you bet I will be there

Besides, for what ever reason, the corn is beyond sweet this year..

(Not everything in Iowa is about those straw polls in Ames)

:hi:

2. Our State Fair is a Great State Fair! Don't miss it - don't even be late!
(from the song of the same name)

You could get the world's best fried chicken and home made pies at the Methodist Ladies Fried Chicken tent at the Kansas State Fair. Disclaimer: I am not a Methodist lady, by my grandma was.

3. State Fair is great everywhere!
Joke....food, and Methodists told to me by a wonderful old nun many years ago

A man and woman go to heaven

St. Peter is showing them around..

People are in groups all over.

There is one group diving in a pond.

St. Peter says those are the Baptists.. they just love water.

There is another group picnicking in the shade.

St Peter says those are the Methodists , they love to eat and cook.

Then another group is sitting off by itself in chairs looking straight ahead saying nothing.

Who are those people the couple ask St Peter?

SHHHH says St Peter.. those are the Catholics.. they don't think anyone else is up here.

:)
