The Committee: the rule of white men.

Of course, the two exceptions are democratic appointees Murray and Clyburn, but frankly, more than any name in the list, this make up should worry us.

1. It looks like the face of the Senate
Which does not look like the face of the USA.

10. Actually, it pretty much does reflect the USA.
The dems are diverse, and the GOP is the National White Peoples' Party.

2. Seen another way, 100% of GOP representation is white men vs. 50% for Dems.

6. If the GOP
appointees were as diverse as the Democratic appointees, then the committee would look more like America. The blame for the makeup of the committee lies exclusively with the GOP.

7. Still 1 woman out of 6 for the dems. Sorry, I disagree.
Edited on Thu Aug-11-11 12:35 PM by Mass
Yes, there are 2 minorities out of 6, but women are very underrepresented.

15. It does suck. From my vantage there's 0/12th.
Not even one black woman up there. But I'm pleased to see some vocal Dems in the mix who I know will fight and not all Baucus-types.

17. The Evil Intent of the GOP is clear by the absence of Snowe or Collins
Edited on Thu Aug-11-11 12:56 PM by Armstead
Two GOP "moderates" who are both active in these issues, and are women.

The fact that the GOP didn't include either of them, even as "window dressing," clearly telegraphs their intentions to ram through crap and "public perception be damned."
