4. I wish he would get on TV and talk about jobs...
...and especially that he'd get out of Washington and into the rest of the country.

Oh, wait....

5. The last thing we need is congress back in DC arguing,
They should go home and listen to people's frustrations w the bickering.

7. Not one word about the RepublicanTeabagger agenda. Dems are just as guilty
It's just those "folks" of both parties in Washington who hold to their partisan ideological agendas.

He keeps bringing out Pink Fluffy Bunnies up against the GOP Corporate Pitbulls

9. He was talking to a MIXED group of people, not just left wing DU activists. Keep real.

10. The MIXED group of people are the ones who need to get the message
Edited on Thu Aug-11-11 02:25 PM by Armstead
He could point out the fatal flaws and the one-sided craziness of the GOP Teabaggers as the real culprit, in a way that the independent swing voters can relate to. That is going to be the major job next year.

This IS a partisan battle. This is a choice between parties and ideologies.

The GOP has set that as the playing field. Like it not, we have to challenge them on that basis.

Only preaching to the choir in safe settings isn't going to cut it.

8. GREAT SERIOUS SPEECH ! The ADULT in the room ! GOOD JOB PREZ !
Not a whole lot new, but maybe, just maybe, people will HEAR the message for a change. He laid out the very good and mostly PROGRESSIVE ideas on things that can be done now: infrastructure investment, smoother patent process, continuing middle class tax cuts, etc.

He hit the reasons for the economic struggle spot on, and called on Americans to get the hell out there and hold Congress accountable.

And, when he talked about those who wouldn't compromise and wanted party over country (GREAT LINE WHICH HE REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES), you know which TEAPARTY he was talking about.

Glad to see he is doing this. It was a serious and good speech which spoke well especially to progressives and moderates, and you sure as hell need moderates to even think about winning a national election.
