Please at least thing about this
If any of those nut-cases I saw last night wins, along with a loss
of the Senate, we will not see what we care about just modified
or cut around the edges. (as we are mad at Obama for) It is extremely possible
we could see:

- Unemployment Insurance go away (Romney wants unemployment savings accounts)
- Social Security slashed to the bone
- Medicare abolished or slashed to the bone
- Federal laws against abortion
- Federal laws against gay marriage, superseding state laws
- EPA neutered completely
- Unions neutered completely
- Scholarships gone
- A free-fall stock market when they allow default
- Instead of the kind and reasoned man in the White House now, you will have
a mean-spirited and crazy person.

They will finish what BushCo started and we will never be able to recover.

I will do whatever I can to reelect Barack Obama, not only for the reasons
above, but because I think he is a infinitely better than any of those
crazies on the other side.

1. Say for instance ...
Howard Dean entered the primaries, and won the nomination ...

Would you then still vote for Obama for President ?

think ...

9. I think he could win ...
One of the smartest Democrats alive ....

Dean would be a strong candidate ....

In any case: I am an Obama supporter because I am a Democrat .... I will vote for him if given the chance in the general ...

But let there be no doubt; His crest has fallen considerably ....

those that keep trashing him.

5. I would still vote for Obama
Dean wouldn't stand a chance, and he wouldn't even try, nor would any other democrat in their right mind! The right would love to see someone primary president Obama and divide the party, it's the only way they could get any of the "clowns" running for the nomination a chance to win.

7. No .... IF Dean won, it wouldnt divide the party ....
Edited on Fri Aug-12-11 09:06 PM by Trajan
Dont get me wrong: I support Obama, and will definitely vote for him if the chance comes in the general ..... But I shant be falling before him to genuflect ....

I am quite disappointed by the actions of this administration .... I expect MORE Liberal positions .... and LESS rightist positions ... Simple math ....

But, while you have your opinions as to whether the good doctor could win an election, they are just that .... I think he would be an excellent nominee .... I am sure many others do too ...

16. I will vote for the Dem nominee, period.
Even if it weren't the President, I'm smarter than to let petty anger lead me to cut off my nose to spite my face and help the GOP to the WH.

That said, I don't think there will be a VIABLE Dem primary challenger. Pretty much all the popular names on DU have already said they're not running, and those who have publicly said it might not be a bad idea to do said that THEY wouldn't be the ones to do it.

6. You didn't ask me, but I'd vote for whomever (D) would actually win,
whether it would be my ideal choice or not. I'll vote for anyone to keep any of those whacks away from the Oval Office.

10. Gately...if you had seen them last night...it was totally
scary. They are ALL hard-core right wing and the recent debt talks have
set the stage - if they get in we will not recognize this country anymore

They make McCain look liberal.

for ANYBODY to keep these guys out! And we haven't even seen Rick Perry in this type of situation. Holy shit! :scared:

8. In my perfect world someone like Dean would be a great president
but unless we get the House back and keep the Senate - he wouldn't get to
be Howard Dean as we know him. Or, nothing good would get passed.

I actually like and admire Obama. He ended up being far from my ideal...
but, he's navigating through all the crazy and was left with no money thanks to Bush.

17. Dean is not going to enter the primaries.
He's too smart a politician, and to well connected to the Democratic Party itself to do so.

That's simply not how it works.

Also, if, in some alternate universe, Howard Dean entered the primaries and won the nomination, unless Obama then ran as an independent, he wouldn't be on the ballot, so who exactly would be voting for him?

18. You do realize that African Americans would sit the election out in LARGE numbers
Edited on Fri Aug-12-11 10:02 PM by fujiyama
There isn't a chance in hell Dean would win the general election after challenging a sitting president. Sorry.

Fortunately Dean is a smart man and knows how stupid that would be.

4. I couldn't agree more.
If we don't want to see all these things you listed, we have to not only vote ourselves, but encourage others to vote also. Not voting is not an option, and when you see posts that encourage people here to do just that, not vote, we need to let them know what not voting will get us. It happened in 2010 when so many wanted to "teach president Obama a lesson", and look what happened. We lost the house, numerous state governments, and have seen just what the right wing agenda is all about, taking away programs that help those in need, and giving tax breaks to the rich and corporations, while trying to privatize the country!

Allowing republicans to win in 2012 would be a disaster!

... having any of them with their finger on "the button" suggests a far worse scenario than yours.

21. Many, if not all, of those things will happen the next time the
GOP has the WH and both chambers of Congress. We'd better prepare ourselves for that now, they've made it quite clear what their intentions are.
