3. I heard it on the tv
The newscaster had the woman on the cellphone.

There ARE NOT in any imminent danger. But there are stuck in a house with no AC, the bridges in the local areas are washed out.
But they sounded safe where they are currently at, in a house, with a fireplace for heat. And the local police already know they were there,
they will probably come get them in the morning.

The lady on the phone sounded really stupid. She explained they left Brooklyn to escape the storm, so they went up to the house in the Catskills.

She kept repeating that is was "really dark"... well duh. You can't turn the lights on when the power goes out!

They kept her on the phone for quite a long time, live on tv. They asked her if they had any water, since they have babies in the house.
She replied they didn't have any water, because the well runs on AC and the power was out! DUH!!!! That's why you get bottled emergency water!

They then asked if she had batteries for flashlights or candles... she had none.

So basically, no they are in panic mode -- they didn't prepare at all, and instead of being rational - the adults there are making everyone else panic.

Then the TV Station got the local police on the phone, and they transferred them over, the police will probably get over there tonight because the lady
on the phone sounded like they are too stupid to handle the situation.

So you go to a house in a very remote area... what do you do? Maybe bring some water? Wait, you have infants with you... what else do you bring?

There are probably people who need immediate help from the local police, and instead they are running around "saving" people who are... in a "it's really dark" house.

4. I feel for her predictament and hope help comes quickly but I agree that she and
her friends are total maroons. Why go unprepared to some remote location that is within the path of a monster hurricane with babies and a pregnant woman in tow? Did you hear the CNN weatherperson explain that the house is beneath a huge reservoir which is why the flooding is so bad or the woman say a river is right beside the house and the basement is flooded? Given that she says all the bridges are down. getting to them doesn't sound like an easy task.

I can't say I was too impressed with CNN for keeping the woman talking on her cell phone that can't be recharged.

5. Did they have a evacuation?
That's what happens when you don't leave after the evacuation. And now they cry for help. The only ones that should have stayed are the ones who have the supplies to live in their home for days until things return to normal.
