47. Probably more of the same?
Like an extension of businesses expensing capital investments;
Credits for businesses that increase the size of their workforce (no promise of good wages, just size counts);
A 2% payroll tax holiday for businesses (further eroding of SS);
A repatriation tax holiday so corporations doing business overseas would have to pay only 5.25 percent tax on earnings brought back to the United States instead of the 35 percent corporate tax rate on domestic profits.
Throw in a little training, get rid of the old costlier workforce; replace with cheaper free-trained workers.

Another stimulus for millionaires and billionaires - you know, those who need it?

6. I wish to high Heaven
I could find something in this mess to laugh about. It's not now and never has been about Obama the man. This goes to the root of the way someone has treated a PRESIDENT. For someone of his education to allow THE OFFICE of the Presidency to be "walked over" like this sets nothing but a bad precedent, and it gives "The Party of NO" an absolute "blank check" to do it again, anytime, no matter who is sitting in that chair behind the desk.
FDR was FDR, they wouldn't even have thought about it with him in the White House..
Harry Truman wouldn't have stood for it..You would have heard him yelling all the way back to Independence.
John Kennedy wouldn't have stood for it.. Five minutes with Bobby, and these cheap, hacks would be climbing the Iron gates outside the White House to escape with their political lives.
They wouldn't have had the balls to try to pull this on LBJ..
Jimmy Carter would have chewed them a new orifice.. face to face.
Bill Clinton would have kicked their backsides down The Mall and back again...physically and politically...
Obama...is..just...Obama...

What this does to the Prestige of THE OFFICE is what people ought to be getting angry about...

Laughter my backside.. If you wanna laugh at something, take a look at Ryan's "budget."

The way these types of matters become a frenzy is so suspicious. Thread after thread on the same subject and always slanted.

But this group has always been frenzy like in the way a subject can be over done from time to time.

19. In the grand scheme of things, when he gives the speech isn't important
What is in the speech is important however, and from the strategic leaks that have come out of the WH so far, I don't think we're going to be impressed.

Sounds like more watered down "bipartisan" bullshit to me.

33. You mean like this? "Obama Moves on Jobs and Foes Feel the Elbow: He reschedules speech after GOP
complains of conflict with debate"

But that's just the Washington Post and we know nobody reads THEM. :sarcasm:

Interestingly, that's the print version. The online version has a totally different tone: "GOP forces Obama to reschedule jobs speech"

It's obvious that the Post, like many papers, presents a different picture to its online audience than to its print subscribers. But since the print subscribers are more likely those who aren't paying constant attention to the blogs, cable talkfests and other of the breathless media, I think it's very interesting and quite favorable that they are getting a more rational depiction of what actually happened.

in other words, folks in the REAL WORLD are not getting caught up in the manufactured hype.

On the other hand, the onliners are eagerly sopping up the "OMG OBAMA'S DOOMED!!!" sop that the electronic media is shoveling
