HCR: Proof We Live in a Plutocratic Republic - A Full-Fledged Corporate State
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 07:26 PM by Bullet1987
Matt Taibbi has suggested that our federal government in its current form is not built to solve the numerous problems it has. Part of this, I believe is that our errors of the past have caught up to us. And instead of fixing the problem, it is perpetuated because the criminals in power don't want to answer for their crimes.

HCR has been hijacked. The corporate powers that run this country, that dictate elections by giving gross sums of money to certain candidates, that lobby Congress with millions of dollars to fight reform...they REALLY run the country! I mean...seriously, they run this sh*t! We don't live in a society anymore where politicians collaborate and come to common sense decisions based on the needs to their constituents. That America died with Ronald Reagan who started America down the path it's on now. It's not just the insurance industry either, it's the Military-Industrial Complex that perpetuates ongoing war and conflict overseas. Again, devoid of logic or common sense. Pre-emptive war is alive and well and isn't going anywhere. On wikipedia, plutocracy is defined as rule by the wealthy, or power provided by wealth...In a plutocracy, the degree of economic inequality is high while the level of social mobility is low.

From the beginning, it has been clear who is framing the policy for HCR. It hasn't been Progressives...I don't even think we've been given the seat at the table that we were promised by Obama during his campaign. The seats have all been occupied by lobbyists for the insurance industry

1. Not only that, it's one that is veering to totalitarianism as the mandates
to buy a product we don't want and that we can't afford are proof of. Being fined and maybe thrown in jail when you can't jump to the tune of the dictator is the result of totalitarianism and the type of justice it brings.

4. I agree
And there are more and more organizations coming out against this bill, than those coming to support it. It seems the only voices actually supporting this shite are Washington reporters and columnists and other so-called Progressives who may lose contacts within the Party if they come out against it. It only enjoys a 37% approval from actual Americans!

3. Well, if Matt Taibbi, writer for the Rolling Stone, says so, it must be true.
Don't take that as a diss to Rolling Stone. I subscribe and read it cover to cover every month, but it's a music magazine not a political magazine, and Matt Taibbi has zero political creditibility. Every time he writes a political story, it's so riddled with errors, it's ridiculous.

:sarcasm:

Taibbi is one of the best investigative journalists in the country. I'll believe him before I believe a columnist for the NYTs.

7. Joe Klein actually described Ezra as a great health care policy analyst
Ezra Klein is a 24 year old with a poly sci degree. If he's a health care policy analyst then I'm a brain surgeon.

8. k&r for the truth, however depressing. n/t

Kill the bill.

Forcing people to buy insurance is no more the answer to a failed health care system than forcing people to buy houses is the solution to homelessness.
