What an idiot: At fundraiser, Bachmann blames Arab Spring on Obama
Edited on Fri Sep-30-11 06:52 AM by TeamJordan23
It is quite scary how dumb some of our elected house of representatives are.

Bachmann blames Arab Spring on Obama's 'weakness'

CONCORD, N.C. — Republican Michele Bachmann blamed President Barack Obama's stand on Israeli-Palestinian peace talks for the uprisings against autocratic governments across the Arab world.

At a fundraiser Thursday in North Carolina, Bachmann traced the mass protests that sometimes turned deadly to Obama's call for Israel to return to negotiations and pull back to the territory it held prior to the 1967 war with Egypt.

According to NBC News, Bachmann compared Obama's policies to those of President Jimmy Carter in the late 1970s.

"I am probably even more concerned about the foreign policy implications because of what Barack Obama has done to the nation," she said, according to NBC News.

"Just like Jimmy Carter in the late 1970s didn't have the back of the Shah of Iran, we saw the Shah fall and the rise of the Ayatollah. And we saw the rise and the beginnings of radical Jihad which have changed this world and changed this nation," she added.

"So too under Barack Obama, we saw him put a lot of daylight between our relationship with our ally Israel. And when he called on Israel to retreat to its indefensible 1967 borders, don't think that message wasn't lost on Israel's 26 hostile neighbors," Bachmann continued.

"You want to know why we have an Arab Spring? Barack Obama has laid the table for an Arab Spring by demonstrating weakness from the United States of America," she said. "The No. 1 duty of the president is to be the commander-in-chief."

Bachmann's campaign did not immediately return a message left by The Associated Press for elaboration.
Story: McCain: Libya inspires people in China, Russia, Iran

Her remarks contrasted with those of Senator John McCain, R-Ariz., who said the Arab Spring-inspired uprising in Libya was "inspiring" people in Iran, Syria and "even in Beijing and Moscow" on a visit to Tripoli Thursday.

1. The woman is completely nuts.
I couldn't believe she was telling a crowd about Hezbollah setting up missiles in Cuba.

"A New Beginning" is the name of a speech delivered by United States President Barack Obama on June 4, 2009, from the Major Reception Hall at Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt. Al-Azhar University co-hosted the event. The speech honors a promise Obama made during his presidential campaign to give a major address to Muslims from a Muslim capital during his first few months as president.<1>

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs indicated that Egypt was chosen because "it is a country that in many ways represents the heart of the Arab world."<2> Egypt is considered a key player in the Middle East peace process as well as a major recipient of American military and economic aid. Reuters reporter Ross Colvin reported that the speech would attempt to mend the United States' relations with the Muslim world, which he wrote were "severely damaged" during the presidency of George W. Bush.<1>

3. Stupid is too light
The Shah was a pig who used his SAVAK Secret Police to terrorize his people.
Our supporting the bastard made the Revolution possible.
We have a lot in common with these people that are vilified.
The Ivy League junta that has run American Foreign Policy is fucked up.

8. You'd think she'd claim the Arab Spring as vindication
Of the Bush Doctrine and Iraq Invasion.

If I was a Republican I sure would.
