What was Herman Cain thinking?
Edited on Wed Nov-02-11 09:18 PM by ProSense
He doesn't respect anyone. He pretends to be a worldly, tough guy, advocating personal responsibility with his survival of the fittest mentality, while attacking those he determines are weak, victims and vulnerable. The RW eats this stuff up.

Herman Cain: I’d Rather Defend DOMA Than Protect Religious Liberty

Herman Cain: Black Voters 'Have Been Brainwashed Into Not Being Open-Minded'

Herman Cain On Occupy Wall Street: ‘If You Don’t Have A Job And You’re Not Rich, Blame Yourself!’

Cain Smears Planned Parenthood: Accuses Group of ‘Genocide,’ Says Its Goal Is To ‘Kill Black Babies’

Herman Cain: Tax Poor People’s Food To Finance Massive Tax Break For The Rich

Cain Indicates He’s Not Aware That China Has Nuclear Weapons

What does Cain do when his own failings catch up with him: blame everyone else.

TPM: Blame Game: Cain Implies Perry Is Behind The Harassment Claims, While Limbaugh Suggests It’s Romney

Daily Kos: Herman Cain blames left-wing racism for his sexual harassment problem

Herman "Koch" Cain and his defenders = Frauds

Herman Cain re-remembers amount of hush money paid to employees

New York Times: Herman Cain accuser got full year's salary in settlement (Daily Kos)

So it wasn't 0 months. Or 3 months. Or 6 months. It was a full year:

Why the hell would someone who has so many skeletons in his closet, who has no clue about world affairs (hard to believe the GOP could find someone more clueless than Palin) decide to run for President?

6. I disagree...
I think any of the serious GOP contenders (Jeb, Christi, etc) are all waiting until '16. They KNOW that even if they were to beat Romney in the Primary (tough), beat Obama in the general (tougher) then they're still faced with a trainwreck of an economy, a war in afghanistan, a mess of a healthcare system, and a rediculously divided Senate & Congress.

Basically, if they win now, they still lose, 'cause there is no way to quickly fix this mess. They're better off waiting 4 more years for Obama to fix many things, then not be elgible to run again and try to steal it away then and claim success from '16 - '20.

Add to that, the fact that a few states deadlines have already passed.. and I really think we're looking at Romney in the General. Not because the Teabaggers want him, but because no one else can stand up for more then 30 days without imploding on their own stupidity.

8. Cain’s desperate search for someone to blame
Edited on Thu Nov-03-11 09:57 AM by ProSense
Steve Benen: Cain’s desperate search for someone to blame

As Herman Cain’s sexual-harassment controversy enters its fourth day, the Republican campaign seems to be spending less time addressing the questions and more time in a desperate search to find someone to blame.

First, the accusations were the media’s fault. Then it was liberals’ fault. Then it was racists’ fault. By late yesterday, it was Rick Perry’s fault.

<...>

At this point, I’m not even sure why this part of the blame game matters anymore. Politico reported that Cain was accused of sexual harassment, and regardless of who first tipped the reporters off to the allegations, Cain really was accused of sexual harassment. Blaming the media, liberals, racists, and/or Perry doesn’t change the underlying facts, nor does it explain why Cain’s version of events has changed so dramatically over the course of a couple of days.

Wildly pointing fingers is absurd. If Cain’s accusers are lying, then they’re to blame; if Cain sexually harassed those women, then he’s to blame. He either committed these misdeeds or didn’t. What difference does it make who tipped off Politico?

<...>

Seriously, did Cain and the Kochs actually believe this would remain a secret while seeking the highest profile job in the country?
