Obama's rating improves: Reuters/Ipsos poll

Obama's rating improves: Reuters/Ipsos poll

By Patricia Zengerle

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama's fortunes are improving slightly, although he would face a tough struggle for re-election next year if Mitt Romney were the Republican nominee, a Reuters/Ipsos poll said on Friday.

Forty-nine percent of Americans approve of the way Obama is handling his job as president, up from 47 percent in an October poll.

Obama's disapproval rating held steady at 50 percent.

While still low, the percentage of Americans who believe the country is headed in the right direction also increased, to 25 from 21 in the previous survey. The percentage who feel it is on the wrong track slipped to 70 from 74, the survey said.

The poll showed Obama would finish just behind Romney if the November 2012 presidential election were held today, with the former Massachusetts governor at 44 percent and Obama at 43 percent among registered voters.

5. You know
it's the media. Even Santorum has been getting nearly three times a much positive coverage and less negative press than the President.

The only person getting more negative coverage is Gingrich, and still, he gets nearly twice as much positive coverage.

Despicable!

6. Bingo. It's not about the candidate, it's about the media and the money.
And the ongoing attempt to derail progress in this country by attacking the President.

4. President Obama will win reelection despite the horse racing by pollsters.
Unemployment numbers going down, his approval numbers rising, and the Republican controlled Congress' approvals dropping like a hot brick...and we still have twelve months to go, and he hasn't even started campaigning!

The ONLY way he could lose reelection, as I see it, is if he doesn't find a way to stop Republican controlled states from suppressing the vote the way they're trying now, and if he doesn't listen to the OWS movement, and starts fighting hard.

9. several polls have been showing a noticeable improvement in Obama's job performance...
if the economy can continue to improve and we can continue to get more jobs created--he should win.
