Kasich: “It’s time to pause" (not a joke)
NYT: Ohio Turns Back a Law Limiting Unions’ Rights

<...>

At a news conference Tuesday night, Mr. Kasich congratulated the winners and said he would assess the situation before proposing any new legislation. “It’s time to pause,” he said. “The people have spoken clearly.”

When asked about the people’s message, Mr. Kasich said, “They might have said it was too much too soon.”

Labor’s victory in this important swing state comes a year before the presidential election, and policy makers and political strategists will be studying ballot initiatives for clues to voter sentiment in 2012.

The election in Ohio provided an opportunity for the president’s network of supporters, Obama for America, to test its organizational ability and revive its enthusiasm after a bleak year for Democratic activists. Volunteers for the president’s re-election campaign fanned out across the state for weeks, urging voters to stand against the new law limiting collective bargaining.

<...>

"Pause"? No, it's time to vote you and the rest of the immoral Republicans out of office.

Reality Check: Republican Losers Did Not Overreach (Daily Kos)

Conventional wisdom pushers and the beltway chattering class have been scrambling to explain the crushing defeat Republicans suffered in last night's off-year election.

To hear them spin it, Republicans lost because they “overreached.” The GOP went too far they say.

Ridiculous.

Let me say this is as clearly and as simply as I can: Republicans did not overreach. What they did is who they are. It is what they stand for. It is what they campaign on.

1. i would say overreach is a good word to describe republicans
reaching over here into your pocket, reaching over there into your natural resources, reaching over there to pull the strings on this legislative body or that one. yeah, it is who they are.

Meaning "we need to move more slowly so they won't notice it as much, then we can pass all the BS we want."

Unless, of course, the voters keep paying attention. Their bold and crass moves have awoken us.

Meet the "Workplace Freedom Amendment"!

http://crooksandliars.com/kenneth-quinnell/next-labor-battle-ohio-workplace

The so-called 'Workplace Freedom Amendment' is designed to undercut unions in the state in a way that Kasich wasn't able to do through his now-rejected Senate Bill 5.

The amendment is being pushed by tea party activists and Associated Builders and Contractors of Ohio, a non-union trade group. The proponents of the amendment suggest that it will make workplaces in the state 'more free' for workers, when, in reality, right-to-work laws in other states achieve two goals -- undercutting unions and making it easier to pay workers less and offer them worse working conditions and benefits.

They didn't pause at all. They are the GOP, and they can work on more than one flavor of evil at a time.
