Ummm, Lieberman is NOT a Democrat
I think this needs to be mentioned from time-to-time.

59 does not equal 60.

2. Yes - he campaigned for McCain for gods sake
He says he'll campaign for Republicans in 2010.

He's more Republican than Democrat.

14.  The Connecticut for Lieberman party chairman called for Lieberman to resign from the Senate
He was never even a member of his own party.

18. Sadly, the head of the party, John Orman passed away
earlier this year. But it appears that the Party is still active

19. He officially passed the baton befor his death
Dr. John Mertens appears to be a capable and honest man.

Caveat: I'm in no way supporting him, but I believe we could at least have an honest debate with him as opposed to any republican candidate.

4. Where are all those who claim that Obama couldn't get 60 Democrats?
...not interested in the fact that there are only 58 + 1?

on most domestic policy questions.

12. In the immortal words of Lieberman himself after Franken snubed him "oh, reeealy?"
C'mon - he campaigned for McCain for gods sake!! He's said he'll campaign for Republicans in 2010.

He gave a damned speech at the Republican National Convention. I'm not buying this - he's no Democrat.

11. He might as well be, but he's not.
So it's 58 Democrats, plus 2 caucusing Democratic Independents.

16. He is a party of himself and by himself. And many in CT actually realize that now.
Edited on Wed Dec-23-09 02:15 PM by Jennicut
I could have told my neighbors and friends and family members that years ago, but whatever.

21. Well put
He is a member of the "party of one" right now. I would like to see him stripped of his chairmanships, particularly since he's apparently announcing his intention to campaign for some Republicans next year and may even switch if (heaven forbid) the GOP ever gets back in the majority.

we should just tell Lieberman that if he will not vote with the party that is giving him his committee chair then he should lose that chair.

Like Bernie Sanders.

There are 58 actual Democrats in the Senate.
