"The changes the president have made, are close to remarkable"
Love the smell of some sense in the morning.

"...Most agree he has avoided the major recession his big-talking predecessor left him, and the present team is ready to reinstate meaningful regulation. And as of this writing, it looks as though a health care reform bill will actually pass Congress, in itself an accomplishment of Rooseveltian proportions.

In one short year, Obama has changed the entire lexicon of political parlance in America. Who at the top talked seriously about global warming and environmental change before? And he has changed the vision of the world toward America. The Copenhagen climate conference, which certainly had its inevitable comical U.N. moments, was a real start in an area where there was nothing but stasis before.

Yet we, the American people, have been trained over the last 20 years by television and modern mercantilists to want, even demand, immediate gratification. Obama is smart and elegant and decent, but I fear to tell you, my fellow citizens, that he remains only a man. There -- it's out! The bunnies he can pull out of his top hat are no more consequent than any magician's, but the long-range change he is trying desperately to set in motion is very, very real...

1. Only positive "remarkable" if you are financially in the upper 5% and/or a CEO of a large company.
An average WAGE EARNING AMERICAN? Not so much ... :nuke:

18. People whos jobs were saved by the stimulus and people who had their unemployment extended disagree.
But don't let the facts get in the way of your foamy mouthed BS.

24. Oh but a great deal of the stimulus jobs ARE for long term projects...
...while others are hold overs until the recovery began (which it has). That was the purpose of the stimulus. There are police officers and firefighters in my city that have jobs today because of the stimulus and will still have jobs after the fact because the stimulus got them through the storm. You really can't deny that such a thing helped average income people such as them. You look foolish even to try.

35. Could I see one positive post? Just one in 6 years??
Have you ever said anything positive about a Democrat who actually has the responsibility of governance?

sees that our President has accomplished some remarkable achievements. Unfortunately many are too busy look for mor rocks to hurl at him, to notice all the good.

4. K&R -- back to zero.
"the long-range change he is trying desperately to set in motion is very, very real...."

And this is what we need most, while it is what the opposition fears most.

8. "Who at the top talked?"
Well, that's about all he does -- talk. Talk about health care, talk about DADT, talk about withdrawing troops, talk about regulating the banks...

12. I've given this guy my last "benefit of the doubt."
I was an Obama Delegate in the CD Caucuses. I worked for his election. I "believed" in him, even when I didn't agree with what he was doing.

But now, he did the one thing I can't and won't overlook and forgive, he betrayed my trust and now is insulting my intelligence. THAT will not be forgiven OR forgotten.

29. Thank you, you're actually the first to say hello.
Which I find to be somewhat disheartening. I came hoping that I might be able to voice my opinion without quite as much nonsense to put up with and because, to be honest, I find it beyond my "gonna hurl" :puke: limit to defend what ObamaCo is doing and more importantly NOT doing to the RW Noise Machine.

13. Thank you for posting this
He is making a herculean effort amid very difficult circumstances. Maybe we should look at ourselves and our need for instant gratification rather than endlessly projecting blame. Bush left a shitload of mess and to clean it up right will take years. The reality based community seems to abide only in the center now.

14. "smart and elegant and decent" are good.
And boy, he can give a great speech.

As much as I find fault with the spineless Democrats in Congress and wish Obama would lead on something, I'm still damn grateful for him compared to the eight years of hell on Earth that preceded him.

Never knew I was a glass-half-full kind of girl.

While I haven't agree with every decision he's made I support him and will continue to do so as he moves into his second year as president.
