Poll question: Your Current Insurance Status + Feelings On The HCR Bill
Please choose which option best fits your views.

Because right now I really want to know WHO really supports and who really opposes this.

1. Other: I have health insurance and I don't know whether to support the bill or not.

I think of all the GOP gloating that will occur if it fails, then I think of all the bad things that are left in with so little good remaining. One minute I'm sure I want it defeated, then the next I think I'll be sorta OK if it passes.

2. I'm in Hawaii and we have an employer mandate.
I'm bring forced to jump from the near monopoly co to the only other competition out there. But I'd prefer buying into a public option and I'm not being given that opportunity.

3. There's no "the".
There are two bills. They say different things.

4. I have insurance through work, but remember what it was like when I was an independent contractor
with a "pre-existing condition" and couldn't get accepted for individual health coverage.

5. My spouse and I retired early. We buy our own insurance and

since we are 58 and 63, our premiums are quite high. I laugh when I read people complaining that insurers will be able to charge people in my age group three times the premium rate younger people pay. Don't they realize that in the private market, people my age now pay 7-10 times more than 25 year olds in the private market?

I would happily support either the house or senate measure as I would consider either one both a tremendous improvement and real landmark legislation.

6. It's an interesting question ...
From comments I've read these last months, I got the feeling that a great many of the people opposing any compromise on the HCR bills did not have insurance (and didn't want to be forced to buy it). But, although this poll is far far from scientific, I see that an almost equal number of uninsureds support and oppose. I'd be willing to bet good money on the supposition that there is an age (and/or illness) divide in that category: with the older or sicker uninsured being for the bill and the younger and healthier opposed to it.

On the other hand, of those who are insured, a far greater proportion support the bill.

I wish they'd do an actual national poll on this. I'd be interested to know if the opposition is really on the merits, or whether it is about people not wanting to insure themselves.
