If you haven't already done so and if it's feasible to do so, I'd like to suggest an audit of the posts from the gun forum regulars. I suspect that what you're going to find is widespread violation of rule #2. Not in the gun forum per se, but I would be very surprised if the gun forum regulars post outside of the guns forum and their viewpoints in the gun form are generally not consistent with progressive ideals.
As many democratic members of congress have been speaking out this past week, it's clear that at least some form of very modest gun control is the consensus. However the overwhelming majority in the guns forum, as evidenced by my "Quick show of hands..." thread, does not support ANY gun control.
The opinions and viewpoints of the majority of members in the gun forum are, however, consistent with the viewpoints of people in a local message board that is 99.999% Sun Belt Republican. The same arguments are made in favor of guns and against all forms of gun control.
I'm confident that the guns forum would have more relevant discussion and more participation if there was better enforcement of rule #2. I for one, feel like a total troll in the guns forum, therefore in order to comply with rule #4, I will cease using the guns forum, effective immediately, until the viewpoints in the guns forum are consistent with democratic and progressive ideals.
Thanks for your consideration in this important matter.
