I have more of a suggestion rather than a question

I know you hate hearing about the rec unrec feature, but here is a suggestion.

make it a choice of the OP as to whether or not they want to allow recs or unrecs in their OP. But if they choose to not allow recs and un recs their post will never make the greatest, obviously. But it would then be their choice to have some control over.

1. That is actually a really interesting idea.
At the very least, it might make people think about whether they think their post is worthy of the Greatest Page. Anything that gets people to think is a good thing, IMO.

I suspect that if someone did choose not to permit recs and unrecs, then there would be a big argument in the thread about that.

2. possibly there would be an argument, i can see that. but maybe that shouldn't be allowed in threads
that have no rec or unrec function. Simple rule.

I like to rec and un rec, and don't have a real opinion about it. i think it would help get the better posts to the greatest and cut down on some of the complaining about it.

As it is right now, I look for the flaming threads (hot threads) and determine for myself what posts to read and post in. The greatest has sort of lost it's meaning, not totally, but on many occassions.

Thanks for listening.
