Signature lines turned off during high-traffic times...

Instead of my signature being turned off during high-traffic times, I've been getting a substitute "signature": "Signature lines are currently not on display due to high traffic", which seems to defeat the purpose of eliminating them.

Just wondering if (1) I may be unknowingly shirking my flag-bearing duty to pass along the no-signatures message by not posting more or (2) I'm "special". ;)

1. Here's why we do it that way.

Removing signature lines removes a database query, and therefore takes some strain off our server.

But if we just take away signature lines, we get a bunch of angry people posting "WTF!!!! Why did the mods delete MY signature!?!?!1111", because they don't notice that other people's signatures have also disappeared. (Somewhat ironic, that people seem to notice THEIR OWN signatures, but nobody else's. But that's beside the point.) So the solution is to serve people a little explanation, on their own post, so they know what happened.
