Why is this thread locked because of possible future problems arising in the thread

if the thread itself does not violate DU rules and guidelines?

Like this thread:

A person in authority with subjective motivations and intentions can use their authority to eliminate discussions that are contrary to their subjective interests.

This subsequently calls into question the integrity of the forum, even if the person in authority does not in actuality have nefarious intentions.

This type of pre-emptive action, naturally, immediately leads anyone with good deductive reasoning skills to formulate many questions, especially persons familiar with history and propaganda techniques. For example:

Technique #6 - 'GAINING FULL CONTROL'
It is important to also be harvesting and continually maneuvering for a forum moderator position. Once this position is obtained, the forum can then be effectively and quietly controlled by deleting unfavourable postings - and one can eventually steer the forum into complete failure and lack of interest by the general public. This is the 'ultimate victory' as the forum is no longer participated with by the general public and no longer useful in maintaining their freedoms. Depending on the level of control you can obtain, you can deliberately steer a forum into defeat by censoring postings, deleting memberships, flooding, and or accidentally taking the forum offline. By this method the forum can be quickly killed. However it is not always in the interest to kill a forum as it can be converted into a 'honey pot' gathering center to collect and misdirect newcomers and from this point be completely used for your control for your agenda purposes."

I am not accusing anyone of anything here; but it looks really bad, from the standpoint of the inherent destructive nature of these types of actions. The confidence of participants in the forum in the capability of the forum to operate fairly and honestly for everyone posting in the forum justifiably erodes.

Particularly if a thread is locked very soon after a post such as this is posted:

Thank you for your time and consideration.

1. It's pretty typical for the mods to shut down threads
where people are talking about who is getting paid to troll DU. These things inevitably end up with people pointing fingers at one another.

The fact is that nobody knows if anybody is being paid to troll DU, and nobody has any way of finding out. So threads which speculate on who might be doing it are just divisive and disruptive.
