"We think that bin Laden 'death photo' is a fake"
There's a purported death photo of Osama bin Laden circulating that's probably a fake according to this MSNBC photo blog:

http://photoblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/05/02/6568249-we-think-that-bin-laden-death-photo-is-a-fake

Graphic image when you scroll down the page but as the blog notes, it probably isn't real but still some might not want to see it.

2. It's very obviously fake.
Freeps are saying the WH released it, which is - as always with them - bullshit.

by several members. It was apparently released some time ago.

10. Just everyone don't be taken in until a photo is released with verification
If that happens. I would certainly expect it.

You know, as George H.W. Bush once famously said, "Trust but verify". LOL

When asked about higher education during the '92 presidential run he also said, "Someone needs to drive the garbage truck", or words very similar but no one seems to remember that. The Republicans are elevating George H.W. Bush to sainthood like the Vatican is with Pope John Paul II.

But back to the subject.

"The Associated Press has retracted a photograph released late Sunday night purporting to show the dead body of terror mastermind Osama bin Laden.

AP announced that it cannot independently verify that the person in the photo is Osama bin Laden nor can it confirm the source.

The photo in question was published earlier on this news site."

12. I agree that this is a fake
However, it is reported that they shot him in the left eye. How did the photoshoppers manage to know that Osama was going to be shot in the left eye days ago (fake picture shows left eye damage)?

18. I guess the faker just assumed the photographer was using a very old camera....
that reverses the photo.

14. According to the piece in the OP we is
"two U.S. officials have warned NBC News that the image is a hoax"

And apparently the writer of the MSNBC photo blog who checked out the photograph, as well as the AP.

23. yes and Dan rather went on with docs that said Bush avoided the TANG
the docs were fake but that Bush avoided TANG service is fact. False evidence neither supports nor disproves a fact.

OBL is dead and I don't need a picture.

And based on recent history I do need a photo or some form of corroborative evidence.

25. maybe I am - why would they fake OBL's death ?
and if they were going to fake it why not do on Bush's watch.

I am not seeing a motive for this alleged fraud.

26. I never said they faked anything
The article I posted never said they faked anything.

They said they had photos so of course people start faking photos. The AP was tricked into believing it. I wanted to point out that there may be fakes out there. The real photos should be released to stop anyone from spreading fakes.

21. It was enough to fool the AP
Pointing out that it's fake isn't an endorsement of its authenticity.

Of course it's fake. That's the point.

Where are the real photos?

19. Obvious fake is obvious...
My gut tells me that photo came from a source in no way, shape or form connected to the US government.

Looks like it was done by a 14 year-old who just got Photoshop.
