Raw Story: Meet the Navy SEALs who killed Osama bin Laden
Edited on Mon May-02-11 09:47 AM by Amerigo Vespucci
NOTE: The photo below accompanied the Raw Story post. After reading the article, I'm guessing it's not actual Team 6 members. Any questions regarding the photo should be directed to Raw Story, who posted it...not me. Thanks in advance. And yeah, "Meet the Navy SEALs who killed bin Laden" is a strange title for an article which basically tells you that you can't "meet" them. Once again...DUers who want to debate that can direct their inquiries to Raw Story.

Meet the Navy SEALs who killed Osama bin Laden

The military team that killed Osama Bin Laden is an elite special forces group unofficially called Seal Team 6.

Officially, the team's name is classified and not available to the public, technically there is no team 6. A Tier-One counter-terrorism force similar to the Army's elusive Delta group, Team 6's mission rarely make it to paper much less the newspaper.

The members of Team 6 are all "black" operatives. They exist outside military protocol, engage in operations that are at the highest level of classification and often outside the boundaries of international law. To maintain plausible deniability in case they are caught, records of black operations are rarely, if ever, kept.

The development of SEAL Team 6 was in direct response to the 1980 attempt to rescue the American hostages held in Iran. The mission was a terrific failure that fell apart at many points and illustrated the need for a dedicated counter-terrorist team capable of operating with the utmost secrecy.

6. Katie Couric has been redeemed!
Yeah, they ROCK!

This is how it's done when you apply BRAINS over brawn. Just so metaphorical it blows my mind. bush liked the brawn and the bang and boom and tanks and bombs and destruction and horror and a whole lotta chest-thumping. Obama went for a swift tidy surgical strike, hand-delivered up close 'n' personal, after an awful lot of police work and detective work and planning, planning, planning. Who hit the target? Who got the job done? And with the least amount of collateral damage, civilian casualties, and American losses I might add? I rest my case.

2. I knew someone who did this type of stuff in Viet Nam. He NEVER talked about any of it
except to say how bad Viet Nam stank from the fish oil everywhere.

7. Son-in-law of a business associate is a retired SEAL.
He is now a professional MMA fighter.

Frying pan into the fire type of deal, I guess.

Nice guy.

Can kill you with his bare hands, for real and true.

12. This being my 23,118th post on DU, I've learned at least one thing...
...and that is that someone is out there waiting to reply with:

1). "Those aren't the actual SEALs" in that photo, or

2). "Your headline is misleading...it says "Meet the SEALs" and the whole article is about how we can't meet them. Please change your subject line" (even though it's the exact subject line that was posted on Raw Story).

...and I didn't want that to get in everyone else's enjoyment of the article. That doesn't mean it won't get posted anyway. All that means is that I've responded in advance.

15. No, I wasn't addressing that to you at all
You were responding to what I posted. All I was saying is that if I hadn't put the disclaimer, somebody would have replied "That's not the same guys."

And I know that somebody isn't you, so my bad if I gave that impression.

11. Have you read the News from China?
"When the fire exchange ended, the Pakistani forces arrested some Arab women and kids as well some other armed people who later confessed to the Pakistani forces they were with Osama Bin laden when the fire was exchanged and Bin Laden was killed in the firing."

http://english.people.com.cn/90001/90777/90851/7366885.html

Ohh, ooohh, no one told the Chinese to print the M$M version!

Could be Chinese disinfo or maybe not. Who knows?
